Loyalty, a word that in lots of hearts rings with warmth and great value. A quality that can be found in individuals who invokes endearment and appreciation from individuals who are the recipient of it’s expressions. A quality that is “part and parcel” to true friendship. Actually, I’d say that without it, true friendship is lost. For how can true friendship stand if there is no trust or reliability, and loyalty is the very foundation of trust. There can be love in a relationship without loyalty being expressed by all partners, but there cannot be a love relationship. Meaning this, that in relationships it is often sadly factual that love (which is expressed in loyalty) does not go both ways. For love as a mutually reciprocating thing then loyalty much be found practiced by all.
Loyalty is defined by a very common dictionary as “feelings of allegiance”. But does loyalty only go as far as feelings? Do feelings of allegiance alone constitute loyalty? I think not. Yes, I would think that most of us would state that loyalty has feelings of allegiance, but with out actions that spring forth from allegiance shouldn’t it be claimed that the feelings are extremely shallow? Therefore we realize that loyalty would be to stand in allegiance to another both in feeling and action. But, what exactly is the highest kind of loyalty? I would personally say it is really not just to stand by another, but to face by those to the conclusion that truth might prevail. An illustration of this the negative side of here is the many people who were very faithful to Hitler’s Germany, but in the long run who would say their loyalty had been a good or a profitable thing? In like manner, all of our loyalties at life’s end is going to be judged as to whether these were in accordance with the truth or not. Sad to say I am afraid that this loyalties of numerous is definitely not found to the praise of Christ.
Undoubtedly loyalty as been exemplified in men’s lives since the start of creation. But I hold that there has only been one man that has perfectly exemplified loyalty, and that is Jesus the Righteous. How did He prove this? What actions of His life are recorded that bare the witness that His life alone perfectly exemplifies a life of the purest loyalties?
Firstly, He was loyal to His Father, who has been the one which commissioned (sent) Him into the world. He ever obeyed the phrase (commandment) of His Father. This really is observed in which he humbled Himself setting aside His deity, to then be based in the fashion of any man who came into the world as a baby born of any virgin woman to reside among a poor and oppressed people. He grew seeking the means of His Father, to reside out His earthly ministry, to get brought to a place of rejection and betrayal by all men. Then to be condemned to your humiliating trial, brutalization, and death, as well as this was at the command of His father. So that He might be become the savior which was necessary to express the love of God to a lost creation, offering the salvation that men needed. Oh, the way i am thankful he was loyal, towards the very bitter end of His natural life.
Secondly, He (Christ) was (and i also believe is, and will ever be) loyal to Their own word and oath. We percieve this first because He kept His oath for the Father in this He completely played the a part of becoming savior to all men. This really is noticed in Psalms 40: 6-8, (KJV) “Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not necessary. Then said I, Lo, I come; within the level of the publication it is actually written of me, I delight to perform thy will O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.” Christ’s loyalty to His Father, obeying Him to the point of death can also be established by the testimony from the writer of Hebrews 12:2b (KJV), “who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame,…..” Then He rose from your dead as He said He would. He sent the baptism of the Holy Spirit as He said He would. He gave gifts unto men (the ascension offices from the New Testament Church) while he said He would. He’s alive in Heaven making intercession for many Believers because he should certainly be. He can come again to receive His own unto Himself, and during that time to evaluate the righteous as well as the wicked, even as He explained He would. He is loyal to His word, and in so doing He or she is loyal to all men.
Thirdly, Christ was and it is faithful to His brethren. This superhero is encapsulated in the first and second loyalties of Christ’s heart. In that He or she is faithful to the Father and also to Himself, He can not but assist to be faithful to His brothers and sisters yet in the world. Just how can this be proven? I would say it is quite easily proven because They have never lied to, or abandoned His very own. I really do not believe that there is person who can honestly say that Christ has never kept His word to His own. In my opinion that all the promises of God (Christ) work with us, if we work them correctly.
There is simply one way. It is located in being in Christ, then in using Christ. Through the operation of faith receiving Him as the savior and sovereign of one’s life. By the regeneration in the Holy Spirit, which creates in the Believer a brand new inner man. The one that is not really fashioned after this world and its ways, but is fashioned after the one that calls us from above. Beyond these, the actions of loyalty are learned from the renewing in our minds, where we learn how to fashion our habits after the habits of Jesus. For the extent we will accomplish this, we shall be proven to be loyal, first towards the Lord, then to men around us, according to the various relationships we experience with this mortal life. Within this truth is the realization from the failure of our own nation’s people as expressed in how we have rejected God in our schools, in our churches, within our government and institutions. For in so doing we are more and more transforming into a people where our citizens lack fascination with their neighbors. This produces a self serving people, a individuals with fewer examples of true and noble loyalty. That is why we tyjanm a divorce rate of nearly 70%, why we have murdered nearly 40 million babies through “legalized” abortion, why most any where in the united states one can open a telephone book embracing the Online Directory and discover page after page of attorneys being listed. And why is this so? This is due to we are a nation loaded with litigation. Neighbor suing neighbor in courts of law. The truest type of loyalty could only is going to be found where Christ is received as the center of men’s lives.
I might repeat the greatest enemy of loyalty to God and our neighbor is self-centeredness. Self is the greatest enemy that the Christian has. This is a far greater enemy then Satan. Loyalty, whether or not to God, or to one’s neighbor is impossible until one learns to deny self. Beyond self there are many negative character qualities which can be counter-productive to loyalty. Unbelief is just one of these. How could one be faithful to either God or man when the first is not able to believe? Confusion and ignorance is an additional. Being unable to conduct one’s self having a clear understanding will affect one’s capability to perform in a loyal manner. For this reason God has due to the Christian the mind of Christ, that by operating in His mind we might be able to conduct ourselves with clear and sound thought
