Another year is about to close it’s doors, and Happy New Year Images will open before us. For most, this past year was undoubtedly loaded with many challenges. Regardless how you faced these obstacles, whether you succeeded or failed in overcoming them, additionally they came with the wisdom of valuable life lessons. Each obstacle was included with it’s own unique gift. Each darkness also held within it Light. It may not have seemed so at first. However, with retrospect and compassion for ourselves, we can move through disappointment to uncover the wisdom and strength offered us by the experience.
Regardless of how filled your year was with challenges, each day also brought much to get grateful for. This New Year’s Eve, before leaping into another set of resolutions, take the time to stop and reflect on the year gone by. Allow yourself a gift of your time for reflection, and time sit on your own and review previous months. Observe how far you’ve come. Observe how wonderful you might be, how resourceful, and exactly how beautiful. Review that which was accomplished. List the various stuff you were grateful for. List the successes you might have had.
Take a look at set of desires for last year, including whatever you did not accomplish. Think about whether those goals were vital that you you. Were they according to your opinion you “should” be doing, or did they come from your heart’s dreams? Will they be worth putting back with this year’s list? What strengths will pursuing those goals uncover within you?
This is a perfect chance to compassionately reevaluate last year’s life, habits, and choices. Did your beliefs and actions bring more peace to you and people surrounding you? Did they expand joy and fulfillment? Did you create meaningful experiences? The objective of reflection is to reconnect with who you are and notice where you’ve been. By looking backward, we can decide to “turn the page” on what we will no longer desire, and progress in a heartfelt direction.
