Red Dead Redemption, the beloved Western action game from Rockstar Games, is set to make its debut on new platforms.

The company has officially announced that the 2010 classic and its Undead Nightmare expansion will soon be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

According to information on the Red Dead Redemption website, the digital release will launch on August 17.

“Experience the epic Western adventure Red Dead Redemption and its groundbreaking zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, as both games come to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 for the very first time in a single package,” a statement from Rockstar reads.

The game is already accessible on Xbox platforms, including Xbox Series X/S through backwards compatibility. The Switch and PS4  expansion opens up new avenues for players to immerse in the Old West setting. Notably, the title will also be playable on the PS5. Therefore, even the latest generation of console users can relive the Wild West adventure.

It's important to clarify that this release is not a full-scale remaster or remake. Rather, it is a port with some enhancements.

One of the notable updates is the inclusion of support for additional languages, catering to a more diverse player base. Moreover, PlayStation users can look forward to Trophy support, adding a new layer of achievement-driven gameplay to the experience.

However, it's worth mentioning that this re-release does not include online support, focusing instead on delivering the core single-player experience that made the original game so beloved.

Double Eleven Studios is working on the Red Dead Redemption version for Switch and PS4. The studio has previously worked on titles such as  Fallout 76, Minecraft Dungeons, Crackdown 3, and Limbo

Red Dead Redemption will cost $49.99, and will also include the Undead Nightmare DLC. A physical edition will launch on October 13.

What’s your take? Do you look forward to enjoying the Switch and PS4 versions of Red Dead Redemption? Let us know on our socials here or in the comments below.

The game also offers different endings, so you can play it again and again and still find something new. Plus, this special version of the game comes with over 40 bonus items that were released as downloadable content in the past. 4. Monster Hunter Rise

YouTube Video

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest game in the popular Monster Hunter series. The game has many different weapons to use. Each weapon changes the way you play the game. Some weapons are heavy and powerful, like the Great Sword. Others are fast and light, like the Dual Blades. Some weapons even let you fight from far away, like the Bow and Bowguns. The game is even more fun when you play with friends. You can join up to three other players and go on quests together in the Hunter Hub.

The game takes place in a peaceful place called Kamura Village. Here, players meet the villagers who are worried about the Rampage. The story of the game, the nice graphics, and the smooth gameplay make Monster Hunter Rise a great RPG on Xbox Game Pass. Also, you'll meet many different monsters in this game, some old favorites and some new ones inspired by Japanese stories. Each monster is unique and challenging in its own way. To beat them, you can choose from a wide range of weapons, each with its own way of playing.

3. Fable 2

Next on the list is Fable 2, a fun and exciting role-playing game. This game lets you play in a magical world called Albion. Here, every choice you make changes the game. If you choose to be good or bad, the people and the world around you will respond accordingly. The story of Fable 2 is all about your character's journey. You start as a simple hero, or maybe a villain, it's your choice. The game is full of interesting characters and fun quests. You get to make friends and build relationships that change as you play more and more.

Playing Fable 2 is a great mix of action, planning, and playing your role. Each fight is thrilling. But it's not just about fights. You can trade items, make things, and build relationships too. And every choice you make, from the weapon you carry to the magic you use, can change how you play the game. Additionally, the game looks and sounds amazing. The game mixes fun and serious art to create a beautiful world. The music helps make every adventure even more exciting. Fable 2 is more than just a game you play. It's an experience that stays with you even after you turn off your Xbox. That's why it's one of the best RPGs on Xbox Game Pass.

2. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

YouTube Video

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a standout role-playing game on Xbox Game Pass. It takes you on an amazing journey in the world of ancient Greece. In the game, you get to be either Kassandra or Alexios. They are Spartan warriors turned into hired soldiers. The game's world is huge and full of interesting places. You get to explore big cities, climb tall mountains, and sail across the sea. The game is packed with action. You'll be fighting enemies on land, and sometimes, you'll have battles at sea. No matter what you're doing in the game, it's always exciting and fun.

But what really makes Assassin's Creed Odyssey one of the best RPGs on Xbox Game Pass is its story. In addition, you get to choose what skills your character learns, which changes how you play. You can also upgrade your weapons and armor to make your character stronger. These RPG features make the game more personal and engaging.

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

YouTube Video

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim takes you on a thrilling adventure in a large and beautiful world. You play as a hero called the Dragonborn. You have a special power and you're the only one who can save the world from a dangerous dragon named Alduin. In Skyrim Special Edition, you can play the way you want to. You can join a war, hunt magical creatures, make powerful potions, or find hidden treasures. Every time you play, you can choose a different adventure. This makes the game fun and exciting each time you play.

What's more, the Special Edition gives you access to extra game content. This includes building your own house, becoming a Vampire Lord, and exploring a new place called Solstheim. You can even change the look of the game with new graphics and mods. Post Malone, the stage name of famed rapper Austin Richard Post, is now sharing a bed with Sauron, as he is the new ruler of the One Ring. To put this in context, Magic: The Gathering teamed with Lord of the Rings two months ago to develop the Magic: The Gathering – Tales of Middle-earth set. A part of this set is the “One Ring” card, which is based on the Ring of Sauron from Lord of the Rings.

While makers Wizards of the Coast did print multiple copies of the “One Ring”, all of them but one feature English text. The one that doesn't is written in Black Speech, a fictional language of Mordor invented by J.R.R. Tolkien. This is a one-of-a-kind card, originally valued at over $2 million.

Evidently, the card didn't take long to find as MTG player Brook Trafton ended up acquiring it in a booster pack. Although Trafton has been an MTG fan his whole life, he knew he could sell the card for life-changing money. And the first buyer to come to mind – Post Malone. If you didn't know, Post Malone is also an MTG fan and has used his riches from rapping to expand his collection of the trading card game. His latest transaction was the limited edition “One Ring” card and word on the social media street is that he purchased it from Trafton for a whopping $2.6 million.

Post Malone Now Rules Us All

@brooktrafton

When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was @Post Malone. I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do. This is my dream come true, meeting Post Malone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale. Post Malone @Magic: The Gathering you have changed my life. Things like this don’t happen to people like me, I guess it’s magic. I am forever grateful 🙏 ✨  #postmalone #onering #oneofone #mtg #magic #mint #psa #card #magicthegathering #lordoftherings #trading #tradingcards #theonering #sauron #collector #edition #one #gandalf #tradingcardgame

♬ original sound – Brook Trafton

In the video posted to Tiktok by Brook Trafton, he states “This is my dream come true, meeting Post Malone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale.” Post Malone also seemed to be pleased with his acquisition of the One Ring, but not as pleased as Trafton, who was left in tears after Post responded, “Yeah, I'll take it.” Moral of the story: buy those trading card game packs, because you never know what might happen.

So, what's your take? Would you spend that much to be the owner of the One Ring? Better yet, would you sell the card to Post Malone if he gave you that offer? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

Exciting news for Wii U owners and enthusiasts of the fan-favorite Nintendo games, Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon! Nintendo has warmly announced the return of online play for these cherished titles, after a surprisingly long maintenance period that started in March 2023.

The unexpected halt in online services for Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon on the Wii U console came as a shock to many. It was all down to an emergency fix-up job that left countless players scratching their heads, wondering what was happening and how long they'd have to wait.

Now, with a sigh of relief, Nintendo has fixed the hiccup related to online play and has joyfully announced that both games are ready to roll again starting on 3rd August 2023. If you're one of those eager players, remember, you'll need to grab a fresh update for each game.

Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon Online Play Resumes with Updated Security Measures

Mario Kart 8, with its heart-pounding races, and Splatoon, with its vibrant and splashy ink battles, have always been stars on the Wii U platform. The return of these games is like welcoming back old friends, especially with the global community connections made possible through online play.

Nintendo's decision to hit the pause button wasn't made lightly. They wanted to make sure you have the safest and most enjoyable gaming experience possible. And even though the wait felt like forever, you can now buckle up and dive back into your favorite virtual worlds, knowing they're safer and more secure.

But just a little heads up from Nintendo: they've mentioned they might have to pull the plug on the online play service for these Wii U games if any more issues pop up. However, you don't need to worry; they've made sure that offline play will keep on rolling as usual.

In a revelation that had fans around the world cheering, Square Enix made the much-awaited announcement Final Fantasy 14 is coming to Xbox platforms.

Phil Spencer, the face of Xbox, unexpectedly took the stage at the Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2023 keynote. Not only did he vouch for his personal love for the game, but he also shed light on the tight-knit collaboration between Xbox and Square Enix to optimize the game for the console.

For years, Xbox aficionados have been yearning for the chance to venture into Eorzea, and their dreams are about to become reality.

What We Know So Far

  1. Open Beta Phase: To ensure a seamless gameplay experience for Xbox players, Square Enix is launching an exclusive open beta phase. The aim? To work out any potential kinks specific to the console version. Excitingly, this also means that the much-anticipated new expansion, “Dawntrail,” will debut on Xbox.
  2. Enhanced Features for Next-gen Xbox: Players with newer Xbox consoles are in for a treat. Square Enix teased notable enhancements, including superior frame rates, upgraded graphics, and swift loading times.
  3. Launch Dates: Final Fantasy 14 is set to make its grand debut on Xbox in the spring of 2024. But before that, eager fans can dive into the open beta during patch 6.5.

Reception & Community Response

The MMORPG community, particularly Xbox enthusiasts, erupted in joy upon hearing the news. This sentiment resonated deeply on social platforms, with countless fans expressing their elation and plans to dive headfirst into Eorzea. The shared sentiment was clear: it was high time Xbox players got to experience the magic that is Final Fantasy 14.

Looking Forward

Square Enix's decision to bring FF14 to Xbox is more than just an expansion; it's a melding of communities. The world of Eorzea is poised to see a significant influx of adventurers, making it even more vibrant and immersive.

Though the exact release date post-beta remains under wraps, one thing is certain: the global FF14 community is abuzz with excitement. As more details about the Xbox version trickle out, players from all corners of the globe eagerly await their next (or first) foray into an MMORPG that has profoundly shaped the gaming landscape.

In an alarming turn of events for PC gamers, Steam recently pulled down the popular game original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, citing concerns over malicious hacks.

This decision came after a rekindled interest in the game when old servers were resurrected on Xbox.

According to an article by TechCrunch, the cause of concern was the game’s “hacked lobbies.” These lobbies, as reported by several players since June 26, have been platforms for malware attacks.

A post on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) – Multiplayer Steam Discussion page, dated June 26, cautioned players to activate a virus scanner before indulging in the game. This warning, shared by a Steam user named Bee, highlighted the malware in question as “Trojan:Win32 Wacatac.B!ml.”

The threat's legitimacy was further confirmed by other players. Steam user Moose shared their personal experience, noting, “I found it, but it wont let me delete saying access denied.”

Investigations revealed that the culprits behind this malicious campaign utilized a worm, a potent malware capable of self-replication, ensuring its automatic transmission from one player to another. This meant that any player who joined one of these compromised lobbies would not only receive the virus but also transmit it to every subsequent player they interacted with.

On July 26, in light of these concerns and the potential risk to its users, Activision made the decisive move to take the Steam version of the game offline.

Call of Duty's Updates official Twitter account issued a statement regarding the situation:

“Multiplayer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) on Steam was brought offline while we investigate reports of an issue.”

Xbox Not Affected

While this debacle has created a wave of concern among the PC gaming community, Xbox 360 users can breathe a sigh of relief. As of now, there have been no reported instances of similar infections for the console's players.

So, were you one of the affected individuals? Do you have an antivirus installed on your PC? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.

It’s been what, a few months since Criterion released Need for Speed UnboundWell, as it turns out, the UK-based developer certainly isn’t keen to hang around with its next installment in the racing saga, as proven by a new job posting over on its LinkedIn handle.

It was bound to happen sooner or later — another addition to the acclaimed racing series. But that’s not the point. Fact is, fans of the franchise had it in their minds that Criterion wouldn’t be starting work on a new installment for a couple of years or so. Of course, that turned out to be wrong. So very, very wrong.

Spotted earlier this week over on the job posting page, Criterion made it clear that it was on the hunt for a World Artist—a position that would have its applicant working to build an open world setting for the next Need for Speed entry. And while that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be coming out at any point in the next year or so, the fact is, it’s definitely happening — and Criterion certainty isn’t holding back on moving away from the recently released Unbound chapter, either.

The Next Need for Speed Will Be Open-World

“With a proud history working on beloved franchises including Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront and Burnout, we're now challenging the conventions of the racing genre to take the Need For Speed franchise to the next level,” reads the job listing. “We are looking for an experienced World Artist to help us on our new and exciting endeavour to create an open world offering the player a fast, visceral and authentic experience.”

So, there you have it; there’s a new Need for Speed game in the works, and it’ll be booting up on consoles and PC at some point in the distant future. For more updates on the matter, be sure to check in with the team’s official social feed here.

So, what’s your take? Will you be picking up a copy of the next Need for Speed game when it eventually rolls out? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.

In a startling turn of events, a ‘real-life' Genshin Impact event in South Korea was abruptly canceled after a bomb threat surfaced on social media, forcing the immediate evacuation of 200 attendees.

The video game sensation, Genshin Impact, had ventured into uncharted territory by organizing festivals to cater to its devoted fan base. The venture has been met with resounding success, drawing a massive influx of attendees; however, this overwhelming response has led to issues of overcrowding during the events.

This year, the event organizers opted to expand the event to two different locations to accommodate the large number of attendees. The event, dubbed ‘The 2023 Genshin Impact Summer Festival‘ commenced on July 20 and was to initially run all the way to July 23. However, the summer convention held to celebrate the Genshin Impact 3.8 was brought to an abrupt halt on day three following a bomb threat.

On July 22, the South Korean police received a tip, through Twitter, regarding a bomb threat. Twitter user @PingPingon69 who is currently suspended, claimed a pipe explosive had been planted at the KSPO Dome (Seoul's Olympic Park arena), one of the event venues. The tweet was accompanied by alleged photos of the bomb alongside a caption urging people to look forward. As reported by Globale, a Korean media outlet, the Twitter user cited their anti-Chinese sentiments as the basis for the terrorist attack.

GENSHIN IMPACT EVENT CANCELLED

After this tweet was shared, firefighters and the police had to quickly jump into action and evacuate all 200 attendees with the police carrying out an extensive search of the explosive device. The local authorities found no traces of explosives at the indoor venue rendering the threats illegitimate. Investigations to finding the person behind the malicious tweet are still ongoing.

Genshin Impact is yet to officially communicate resumption of the event.

More on Genshin Impact

Cancellation of the festival is not the only scandal rocking Genshin Impact's boat. Earlier on this month, Genshin Impact voice actors claimed they had not received any payment from HoYoverse in months and we're even struggling to make ends meet. However, the misunderstanding was ironed out after it came to light that Studio Formosa, one of the companies that handles the voiceovers, was actually to blame.

The action role-playing game also experienced another scandal back in February when they had to drop a voice actor over allegations surrounding sexual misconduct.

Genshin Impact is currently available on PS4 and 5, Mobile and PC with its release on Nintendo Switch still underway.

According to a blog post on Blizzard Entertainment, they state, “As a free-to-play, team-based game, we believe Overwatch 2 is the perfect title for Blizzard’s debut on the platform.” All you have to do is connect the Steam version of Overwatch 2 to your Battle.net account, and you'll have access to all of your previous amenities, achievements, and heroes.

Overwatch 2: Invasion, the game's new PvE Story Missions, will also be available on August 10. With them comes a new PvP game style, two new maps, and even another new hero. And it'll all be available on August 10th, the same day Overwatch 2 is released on Steam. So, it's certainly an exciting time for Overwatch 2 fans, however, that's just one of many Blizzard games that are arriving on Steam.

Other Blizzard Games Arriving on Steam

Although Blizzard stated that their other titles will be available on Steam, they did not specify which ones. Furthermore, they did not provide a time frame. All the announcement said was, “As far as what’s next for Blizzard on Steam, we’ll be sharing more about potential other games coming to the platform when the time is right.”

So, it looks like it could be a little bit before we find out which of Blizzard's games is arriving on Steam next. We're keeping our fingers crossed for Diablo 4, but given how fresh it is, that seems doubtful. Nonetheless, older Blizzard titles like Starcraft II and Hearthstone are likely to make their way to Steam in, hopefully, the near future.

So, what's your take? Are you excited Overwatch 2 is coming to Steam? What other Blizzard games do you think are coming to Steam? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

After an 18-year run, Microsoft announced they are finally putting the lights out on Xbox Live Gold on September 14. Stepping in to take its place is the new Xbox Game Pass Core. Players will pay $10/month or $60/year for the new subscription service, which comes with a selection of 25 games for the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It launches on September 14, following the removal of Xbox Gold Live.

On top of its 25-game catalog, Xbox Game Pass Core will include access to online multiplayer, as well as grant subscribers various deals and discounts. It will not, however, grant access to the full Game Pass library, or day-one releases like Starfield. Nonetheless, existing Xbox Live Gold members will automatically be converted into Game Pass Core subscribers when the new service launches on September 14. Microsoft also announced that the Games with Gold program will end on September 1 in light of all these changes.

Games Catalog

Microsoft Is Ending xbox Live Gold in Favor of the New Xbox Game Pass Core.

Here are the titles confirmed for Xbox Game Pass Core, so far:

  • Among Us
  • Descenders
  • Dishonored 2
  • Doom Eternal
  • Fable Anniversary
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Gears 5
  • Grounded
  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Halo Wars
  • Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
  • Human Fall Flat
  • Inside
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Psychonauts 2
  • State of Decay 2
  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

That's just 19 of the 25 games confirmed for the new subscription service. Nonetheless, we're already impressed with the lineup, and nice to see some recognizable titles for once, such as Grounded, the Fallout series, and Doom Eternal. After all, Xbox Live Gold offered up a pretty poor selection of games, so we for one are looking forward to the new subscription service.

So, what's your take? Are you upset Xbox Live Gold is being removed? What do you think about the new and improved subscription service? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

The idea of wearing a haptic suit to experience physical sensations while gaming is revolutionary. We've seen the concept envisioned in many movies, such as when protagonist Wade Watts used it in the film Ready Player One. However, the idea of using one ourselves never occurred to us. That's probably because most of us think a haptic suit is still a long way off, but to many people's surprise, it's already arriving on our doorstep.

Made in partnership with the video game peripheral company OWO, Ubisoft is releasing an Assassin's Creed Mirage-themed haptics suit that will allow players to feel over 30 different physical in-game sensations. Everything from punches and stabs to wind gusts and bugs crawling on you. Essentially, the haptic suit works similarly to the PS5 DualSense controller, but instead of just feeling the action in your hands, you can now feel it throughout your entire torso.

More Details on the Assassin's Creed Mirage Haptic Suit

Haptic Suit

The OWO's haptic suit has haptic points on your chest, stomach, lower back, and arms. Using a mobile app you can calibrate the sensations to your liking and even replace them with new ones. Nonetheless, we're all a little curious about what it actually feels like. I mean, getting stabbed isn't exactly exciting, but if it means improving our video game immersion, we're all for it. Simultaneously, with this shirt on, we'll be more cautious about getting hit in games than ever before.

The Assassin's Creed Mirage Haptic suit will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. We don't yet know the price or release date, but we expect OWO and Ubisoft to reveal those details nearing the October 12 release date for Assassin's Creed Mirage. So, make sure you stay tuned to Gaming.net and the OWO page to know when it releases.

So, what's your take? What do you think of the Assassin's Creed Mirage haptic suit? What do you think it feels like to get punched or stabbed? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

Activision Blizzard will be removed from the Nasdaq-100 index, as Microsoft edges closer to finalizing its $69 billion acquisition of the gaming giant.

According to a statement from Nasdaq, Activision Blizzard will not be available when the stock markets open on July, 17 2023. This is just a day before the deal's deadline of July 18.  Another tech company, The Trade Desk, will replace Activision Blizzard on the stock exchange.

This development follows the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) decision to file an appeal to challenge a recent court ruling. Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley ruled  in favor of Microsoft, denying the FTC's request for a preliminary injunction.

According to the ruling, the agency failed to provide sufficient evidence of potential anti-competitive effects. The FTC appeal hopes to obtain a preliminary injunction preventing the Activision Blizzard and Xbox merger, prior to a trial set for August. Both Microsoft and Activision have expressed disappointment in FTCs decision to file the appeal.

The development is a clear indicator that Microsoft is confident that the deal will go through before the deadline. The Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) preventing Microsoft from finalizing the deal will expire on July 13.

Unless the appeals court extends the TRO, Microsoft will be free to proceed with the acquisition from July 14. Failure to complete the deal by July 18 would result in Xbox paying Activision Blizzard a $3 billion termination fee, potentially leading to renegotiation of the acquisition terms.

In addition, Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are challenging the UK's Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA) decision to block the merger. However, all parties involved are currently engaged in discussions to explore possible restructuring options for the buyout.

The outcome of the ongoing appeals and potential restructuring negotiations will determine whether the deal can go through before the imminent deadlines.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed an appeal after a California judge rejected its bid to halt the Microsoft Activision Blizzard acquisition.

Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley denied the FTC's request for a preliminary injunction on July 11. According to the ruling, the agency had failed to demonstrate that the merger would significantly impede competition.

Both Microsoft and Activision have expressed disappointment with the appeal, but they remain determined to proceed with the merger despite the FTC's latest move. An Activision Blizzard spokesperson affirmed their confidence that the merger would proceed in the United States, along with the other 39 countries involved. Microsoft President Brad Smith criticized the FTC's persistence saying;

“The District Court’s ruling makes crystal clear that this acquisition is good for both competition and consumers. We’re disappointed that the FTC is continuing to pursue what has become a demonstrably weak case, and we will oppose further efforts to delay the ability to move forward.”

The FTC's promptness in filing an appeal is evident, as it chose to file just one day after the ruling even though it had until the end of the week to do so. The appeal, if successful, will grant the FTC's initial wish for an injunction, at least temporarily halting the acquisition. The acquisition is scheduled to go through by July 18.

While the FTC's current efforts to obtain an injunction represent the most significant obstacle for Microsoft at present, it is not the only challenge they face. The United Kingdom previously blocked the merger, prompting Microsoft to consider modifying the transaction to meet the demands of the UK's Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA). However, the CMA has recently paused legal action to review new or revised proposals from Microsoft. With significant deadlines approaching, all eyes are now on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to see how they respond to the FTC's appeal and whether this landmark deal can ultimately move forward.
