5 Best Video Game Sisters, Ranked

Updated on

Family relations are a major driving force in many video game plots. While some of the most famous pairs of gaming siblings are brothers, there are some pretty interesting sisters out there. These sisters know how to protect and support each other in their tasks or how to disrupt each other in some cases. These women come from a variety of games, both popular and not. Some of them are on the side of good, while others are major antagonists. In addition, you will find that these women come from a few different types of games. Keep reading below to learn everything you can about these video game sisters.

5. Jean and Barbara

One pair of more recent video game sisters comes from Genshin Impact. Jean and Barbara live in Mondstadt and grew up apart. Jean joined and now leads the Knights of Favonius, while Barbara works for the church. Barbara is a Hydro Catalyst who focuses on healing, while Jean uses the power of Anemo to support the team. Both sisters play an important role in both keeping Mondstadt afloat but often find themselves busy. Nevertheless, they do occasionally get to spend time together, and Barbara idolizes Jean.

One of the moments that you get to see the sisters interact the most is no longer in the game, sadly. This was during the version 1.6 event that took the Mondstadt crew to the Golden Apple. It was there that Jean and Barbara were able to spend some time together as they unraveled the mystery of the islands. While interactions between them may not happen all that often, you can always look through their voice lines and stories to learn more about the pair.

4 . Junko and Mukuro

Danganronpa features two video game sisters that are completely evil. Junko Enoshima and Mukuro are twisted in ways that most players couldn't imagine at the start of the series. The game is a visual novel that takes place in a school. The students are paired against each other in a killing game, and both sisters are involved. Mukuro disguises herself as Junko and gets killed early on to help her sister escape being noticed. Junko masterminds the whole game from behind the scenes.

Junko is manipulative, while Mukuro is talented at combat, allowing her to take on the more aggressive roles in the series. This makes the two a perfect storm for creating the despair around them and keeping the class guessing. While both girls' presence is felt throughout the first game, a prequel anime had to be made to highlight just how the two bought the world to its knees.

3. Popola and Devola

If you know anything about Yoko Taro, it's that he knows how to make a depressing game. Popola and Devola are video game sisters from the NieR series. The twin sisters appear in the first game as helpers to the town where Nier and his sister grew up. The two have different personalities, but they clearly both love to help the town. If you do a sidequest, you can even trigger an event where the pair will sing The Song of The Ancients together.

As fate would have it, though, the sisters are the antagonists of the game. They are androids who are supposed to take down the main protagonist. In NieR: Automata, a duo of the same androids appear again to assist the android camp and even help 9S fight. These aren't the same girls, though. They are just the same model of androids. Despite their role, these two are well-known and two of the most important characters in the series.

2. Lightning and Serah

Final Fantasy 13 was all about a pair of gaming sisters. Lighting and Serah spend three games trying to be reunited, with several tragic twists and turns. It all started when Serah became a crystal, and lighting set out to save her. By the second game, all but Serah have forgotten about Lighting. Throughout the game, you see the sister's struggles to help not only save the world around them but put their family back together. Their story makes the series of games one of the saddest out there, as many consider the ending to be completely heartbreaking.

While there are a lot of siblings on this list, these two are the most dedicated to family. If you are looking for a story about siblings and the pain they go through, Final Fantasy 13 is your go-to. You also get to play as both of the sisters throughout the series, letting you get to know them both a bit better. This adds another layer of depth to their character development and makes them easier to feel connected with.

1. Jinx and Vi

Jinx and Vi are two gaming sisters from League of Legends. They are polar opposites, and it's fair to say that they don't really see eye to eye on many things. Jinx is a chaotic criminal, while her sister Vi is an Enforcer. The recent Netflix series even focused on these two sisters to better bring their story to life. Jinx was already a particularly popular character, but this rose her to new heights in the community. In addition, this also helped Vi to become more well-known, with many new players grabbing on to the sisters.

Jinx is obsessed with Vi and would probably love her sister to join with her. For now, the two are constantly going at it, and their relationship seems to just be getting worse. Despite this, they are now two of the most well-known sisters in the gaming world. Netflix also seems like it will keep going more into their story, and if we are lucky enough, we may see a heartfelt reunion someday. Of course, this doesn't seem like it will happen anytime soon.
