Take Aways From Genesis Trailer

In the trailer, we can get a glimpse of a young Reaper, Ana, Reinhardt, and Torbjorn. What's more, the narration also references life before the Omnic uprising and then steeps into how the war changed life forever. All of this alludes to the idea that Genesis is in fact a prequel. Nonetheless, we're excited about it and what it has in store for us come July 6. Oh, and in case you're wondering. Here are the showtimes for each episode in the Overwatch mini-series:

  • Part One: Dawn – July 6 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed a trailer for the Overwatch 2 Halloween Terror event. The trailer gives players a sneak peek of what to expect. The Halloween Terror is the first Overwatch 2 seasonal event. It will feature a new co-op mission known as Junkenstein's Revenge: Wrath of the Bride.

Blizzard has released a trailer showing off more of the upcoming content for this year. Several of the characters are featured in the video in past Overwatch Halloween skins, such as Anna's Mummy outfit and Sigma's Flying Dutchman outfit. The event, which runs from October 25 to November 8, will also feature the return of popular Junkenstein modes from previous years.

The trailer showcases two new skins that will be available during Halloween Terror 2022. The skins include the Witch Kiriko and the Executioner Junker Queen. Rather than her Healing Ofuda, Kiriko wears a traditional witch's hat and carries what looks to be pagan spell-casting cards. In contrast, the Junker Queen wears all-black spikes and an executioner's hood. Even while Mercy already has a witch skin in Overwatch 2, hers is darker and edgier than Kiriko's. Therefore, the two are easily distinguishable.

Players who participate in the challenge will receive some rewards. The rewards include the Nightfall Over Adlersbrunn Name Card and the Jack-o'-Lantern Weapon Charm. Additionally, fans who tune in to Overwatch 2 streams on Twitch will be able to snag Halloween-themed Twitch drops.

Players will receive a Werewolf Winston Spray After two hours of watching and the werewolf Winston Legendary Skin after four hours. Every Overwatch 2 player who logs in between the start of the Halloween Terror event and the end of Season One will also be rewarded. The players will receive a Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary Skin and a Health Pack weapon charm for free in Overwatch 2, in addition to Werewolf Winston.

Overwatch 2 is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

What is your take? What are your thoughts on Overwatch 2 Halloween Terror 2022? Do you plan to participate? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.

The long-awaited sequel to the beloved action brawler Overwatch is finally out. Overwatch 2 gets bigger and better with the addition of three new formidable characters. There have been a few tweaks and complete changes made to several main facets of the game. Whether a first-timer or a veteran Overwatch player, it's important to know how to get the most out of each weapon and its wielder. Especially in 5v5 matches where your team counts on you to give your best performance. That said here are the ten best weapons in Overwatch 2.

10. The Frag Launcher

YouTube Video

When your target is out of reach or around an obstacle, your best weapon to have is the Frag Launcher. This is Junkrat's signature defense move that best applies when opponents are attacking. The best feature about the Frag Launcher is that its grenades bounce off walls and only go off when they hit the enemy. This is how its user gets the upper hand against and manages to get through, even over obstacles.

9. The Katana

Genji is one of the most adaptable and mobile fighters in Overwatch 2, and when combined with the Katana, he becomes even more lethal. This weapon is an integral part of his melee attacks when he is not using his signature shuriken moves. Although it's most useful in deflecting attacks, it can also deliver so much damage, even to strong opponents. For both defense and offense, the Katana is iconic for keeping its user alive long enough to win the fight.

8. The Scrap Gun

Another powerful weapon we see Roadhog wielding is the Scrap Gun. Despite the gun remaining unchanged from the previous title, it has maintained its vigor. The Scrap Gun is a highly powered shotgun-style high-damage weapon that, despite having low ammo, delivers tremendous destruction. If you want a guaranteed K.O hit, this is the best weapon to pull out, especially when dealing with massive tanks.

7. The Chain Hook

The Roadhog has a couple of powerful weapons up his sleeve, and one of them is the Chain Hook. Similar to Mortal Kobat's Scorpion, Roadhog's chain can pull enemies toward him for melee attacks. This works best against long-range fighters since they have a tougher time defending against close combat. The Chain Hook can help you deliver a whole lot of damage if you know when and who to use it on. This makes Roadhog a powerful addition to any team on the battlefield and a force to fear for the opposite team.

6. The Revolver

Thanks to the Revolver, Cassidy remains the most formidable mid-range attacker in Overwatch 2. Surprisingly, this weapon does a lot of damage to nearby enemies, and if that wasn't enough, the user can follow up these stun gun moves with long-range grenade attacks. This is the most dreadful weapon for any exposed enemy, such as flying Pharahs. Players can also have the most fun exploring other incredible weapons that work well with the Cowboy's favorite firearm.

5. The Heavy Pulse Rifle

One of the best yet suitable weapons for first-time Overwatch players is the Heavy Pulse Rifle. This weapon is wielded by Soldier 76 is a fine character for those more accustomed to shooter games. The Heavy Pulse Rifle is a powerful automatic that shoots three rockets per shot. This trio of spiraling rockets heads straight toward a target with an almost 100% chance of impact. Its influence is strong and reliable each time the gun goes off in the arena.

4. High Damage Bastion

Some characters wield powerful weapons, while others are made of weapons. So it is with Bastion, a powerful robot that can change shape and has a scary presence on the battlefield. In the previous title, Bastion could barely move during his transformations, but in Overwatch 2 he has been completely upgraded. He is now a more agile, mobile fighter, and he can transform through different modes to enhance his offense and defense. His weapons also fire with high damage and accuracy that works best against tank enemies.

3. The Endothermic Blaster

Don't let Mei's warm, welcoming face fool you; her weapon is one of the most powerful in the series. The Endothermic Blaster has two deadly firing modes. The basic mode slightly freezes its target, causing the enemy to experience a debuff in speed. The second mode activates when the enemy is slightly out of range, where firing the gun creates a pointy shard of ice. This ice shoots towards its target with absolute precision, which lets you easily take down enemies that are out of range.

2. The Photon Beam

The introduction of the Photon Beam was not as glorious in Overwatch 2 as it was in the first title. However, after a few tweaks, Symmetra's Photon Beam is all improved and more powerful than ever. It is now capable of knocking through enemy barriers while simultaneously getting supercharged. The Photon Beam begins as a fairly harmless weapon; but, when it's time to attack enemy barriers, it fills with strength and doubles in ammo. This attack works best on opponents that carry shields to hide from any significant attacks thrown their way. Similarly, this move best applies to long-range sight lines across the map.

1. The Rail Gun

A weapon is only as good as its user, and Sojourn's high mobility is what makes the Rail Gun as deadly as it is. This weapon is considered the most powerful in the whole series, and for a good reason too. Its shooting speed is unmatched as it delivers rapid fire with optimum accuracy. On top of that, the Rail Gun charges a powerful blast that can take out multiple targets simultaneously. On its own, this weapon is powerful as is, but paired with an agile fighter like Sojourn, it's practically unstoppable. She is also one of the most terrifying characters on the battlefield; those who plan to face her must come prepared.

There goes our list of the best weapon in Overwatch 2? Whats your favourite? Share your pick with us in the comments below or over on our socials here!

Overwatch and its sequel, Overwatch 2, share a lot of similarities. While this may be true, the games have a few core differences in their gameplay or the philosophy behind each respective title. While some fans of the series will argue much has been lost since the first game, many others will praise perceived improvements made in Overwatch 2. We will examine each match objectively and compare them on their own merits. So, here is Overwatch vs. Overwatch 2.

Whether or not you enjoy the original game or the sequel. It can be agreed upon that both games have elements that make them shine. At the same time, some players may be reminiscent of the 6v6 gameplay. As well as how it affected team composition, many others could easily detract from this in favor of Overwatch 2‘s current 5v5 system. Minute changes such as this have an incredible impact on how the game is played. Do you prefer a  more tanky game? With more attrition-based team fights, or are you a fan of the newer system, let's compare Overwatch and Overwatch 2 below.

What are Overwatch and Overwatch 2?

Released in 2016, Overwatch is a hero shooter with MOBA elements. That pits players against each other in various objective-based game modes, with a traditional 6v6 team composition format that usually consists of two supports, two tanks, and two DPS characters. This team composition philosophy made team fights longer and would typically come down to which team could outlast the other. This is not the case in Overwatch 2, as teamplay is more based on individual performance. As opposed to team play itself.

While Overwatch 2 takes a more direct and skill-based approach to combat. It can initially be somewhat jarring for players returning to the series from Overwatch. This is not where the changes stop; this is just the beginning of the differences between these two titles. While many of the differences between these titles are gameplay based, there are quite a few that are not.

Pay to Play vs. Free to Play

One of the most glaring differences between Overwatch and Overwatch 2 is their price tag. While Overwatch serves as a full-price game, Overwatch 2 can be acquired by owning a copy of Overwatch or simply downloading the free game. This has opened the floodgates for new players into the series. Making Overwatch 2 free means that effectively anyone can play regardless if they paid or not. it can be argued that this is for the betterment of the game as it allows for a more healthy player base. Furthermore, removing the barrier to entry by Blizzard serves to keep the game population more stable and thriving in the future.

Loot Boxes vs. Battle Pass

Overwatch had a traditional loot box system for its progression of cosmetics and various other items. This has been done away with in Overwatch 2 in favor of a Battle Pass system. Like many other titles on the market, Overwatch 2 uses the Battle Pass system to entice players to progress through their tiers to gain more items. This change allows players to unlock things without the randomness of a loot box, opting instead for the transparent Battle Pass system. Many players have preferred this way of doing things, and while there are detractors on both sides, the answer to how this is handled is more complicated than some give it credit for.

Reworks and New HeroesGames Coming to PC October

There have been many heroes reworks in Overwatch 2. Taking their predecessor's lead and using its characters and building upon it.  Overwatch 2 has changed how these heroes function quite a bit. Adding unique damage passive ability to almost all the damage characters has given them more sustain and maneuverability by granting them damage and speed buff upon killing enemies. This change encourages players to be more aggressive in activating this passive. Additionally, this completely changes how fights play out in Overwatch 2 compared to Overwatch.

They make for a more fast-paced experience. The new damage passive changes the game quiet. Rewarding skillful deliberate gameplay as opposed to the more attrition-based system of Overwatch. Accompanying these recent damage changes are new heroes as well. Ranging in their class and functionality, these heroes seem welcome to the Overwatch 2 roster.

A roster bolstered by many new DPS characters accounts for over a third of the hero roster. Whether it is the tank and destructive Junker Queen or the Soldier 76 like Sojourn or the healer Kiriko. These new characters have been a smash hit among new and returning players to the series. In short, the changes and additions rework, and new heroes have made to the game compared to its predecessor are staggering.

So Overwatch or Overwatch 2?Best MOBA games of 2022

As with many things in life lot of these things come down to personal preference. Some players may enjoy the 6v6 model of Overwatch. While some enjoy the innovation of taking the team count down to five. Some players may like the changes to heroes, while some who are fond of Overwatch might find the old heroes they used to play with unrecognizable in their current state. I'm sure many players enjoy the new Free to Play model that Overwatch 2 has implemented. However, I can see people being more divisive about their new Battle Pass system. One might see it as a tedious grind with numerous tiers to unlock.

Overall, Overwatch 2 does a splendid job of building on the previous game in the series. However, some players may feel like this has come at a cost. I hope you enjoyed how we laid out comparisons and contrasts of each game to inform the player further. Whether you prefer Overwatch or Overwatch 2, both games offer much fun. Players of all different opinions can agree that the Overwatch series has some of the most fun gameplay moments available on the market. That can serve to be enjoyed by everyone.

So, what is your take on Overwatch vs Overwatch 2? Which of these two games do you prefer? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.

If you're a fan of Riot's team-based hero shooter Valorant, you may also be a fan of games that follow a similar suit. In fact, there are a lot of games that combine weapons with characters who pose special abilities. It adds a new aspect to a game's gun gameplay that makes the experience unique from that of other notable first-person shooters. That's why if you enjoy the likes of that in Valorant, you might also enjoy the best games like Valorant which also feature the same concept.

Many of the games on this list, actually came before Valorant. So, although their action gameplay draws many similarities, it's based around an entirely unique concept to that of Valorants. That means there are tons of new experiences to be had, and it may even end up with you landing your next favorite hero shooter to grind. That's why it's worth checking out our picks for the five best games like Valorant, because it's full of the best hero shooters to ever come, aside from Valorant, obviously.

5. Team Fortress 2

YouTube Video

Team Fortress 2 was originally released back in 2007, and yet in 2022, it still has a huge surge of players stepping into the game every day. That makes it one of the oldest team-based shooters known in gaming and also a timeless classic. In the game, you face off in a 6v6 match across a variety of game modes such as Capture the Flag, Control Point, Arena, King of the Hill, and more. Then you pick a class and step into the action.

There are nine distinct classes to choose from, all with their own specific roles and abilities for how they play. For example, the Soldier can use his rocket to do a literal rocket jump without taking damage. The Scout is super fast and can bunny hop and even strafe on walls. Or go the sneaky route as the Spy and disguise yourself as enemy players to backstab them for an easy kill. Team Fortress 2 is as simplistic as team-based hero shooters get, but the game is perfectly balanced, and a ton of fun. After all, there's a reason it's been kicking around for so long, which also may have to do with the fact that it's free-to-play.

4. Paladins

YouTube Video

Speaking of free-to-play hero shooters, another one that's worth checking out is Paladins. This team-based hero shooter immerses you in the realm of champions, with 5v5 gameplay split between Siege, a payload-based game mode, Onlsought, an objective-based game mode, and traditional team deathmatch. What distinguishes Paladins' gameplay from its competitors is that you can not only wield guns and use magic as a champion of the realm, but you can also completely alter your primary abilities to define your playstyle.

Paladins use a deck-building system to define your champion's gameplay. This gives you tons of cards to customize your champion into a variety of playstyles. You can have a super fast champion running around with hire-powered assault rifles, become an aerial sniper with flight abilities, or an explosive expert raining carnage, all as the same champion. Then you can combine these with the magic-based abilities of each of the champions in the game. Which makes for a new gameplay experience in every game.

3. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

YouTube Video

Valorant is a hero shooter, which means it has characters with unique skills to enhance the gameplay. The premise of its team-based shooter is to either defend or take control of a site by planting or defusing the bomb. It's largely the same model as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO), with the exception of the hero shooter part. CS:GO is a tactical team-based shooter, which means there are no special abilities and only pure gunplay.

You would think this makes for a simplistic game, but when it comes down to it, CS:GO is very complex. Tactical equipment such as flashbangs and smoke grenades must be utilized if you want to take over a site. Much like you would in Valorant with character abilities to wall off angles. Overall, players tend to compare CS:GO to Valorant because the premise of the game is effectively the same, with different gameplay components.

2. Apex Legends

YouTube Video

Apex Legends is what you would get if you turned Valorant into a battle royale. Which is the easiest and most simple way to put it. In Apex Legends you go into a battle royale with roughly 60 players, comprised of 20 teams of three. Each team is made up of three legends with a total of 21 legends to choose from. Each legend features a unique passive, tactical and ultimate ability that can be used to change the momentum of the fight.

For example, Bloodhound has a tactical ability that scans the proximity around him, revealing enemies for a short time. Gibraltar is a tank legend and can deploy a huge shield for extra cover as his tactical ability. These are just a couple of examples, but each legend has its own unique list of abilities that define their gameplay. That means every team you fight will pose a different threat with the combination of legends and abilities at their disposal. This makes for constantly dynamic combat gameplay with many variables changing up the battlefield.

1. Overwatch

YouTube Video

Our number one pick for the best games like Valorant is Overwatch. And you only have until October 4, 2022, to play the original game before Overwatch 2 replaces it. That's why it's best you get the most out of the original experience you can. Because there are some big changes being made for the game's next installment. Nonetheless, the gameplay at its core is still the same.

Players fight on a variety of maps that feature different game modes, like securing a site or pushing a payload. Each team has six players (Overwatch 2 is changing this to 5v5) who must choose a hero from the four main classes of Offense, Defense, Support, and Tank. Within each of those classes, each Hero is fully unique, with abilities and ultimates to use in addition to their basic attacks. This makes team composition in Overwatch highly important. But being one of the best team-based hero shooters of all time, it's without a doubt one of the best games like Valorant.

So, what's your take? Do you agree with our top five? Are there other best games like Valorant that we should know about? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

First-person shooters (FPS) are unquestionably one of the most popular genres of games. Even if you don't main them, it's no secret that we all play one from time to time to satisfy our FPS cravings as gamers. In either case, it's always a good idea to mix up your experience with other first-person shooters because the genre has a lot to offer. And as August progresses, these are the first-person shooters we believe you should play, or at the very least try.

That's because there is an important factor, event, or reason we recommend playing all of these games in August. That is also why, coincidentally, now is a good time to enter these games because you never know when it will be your last chance. Which is exactly the case with our number one pick. We'll have more details as we get closer to our top pick, but remember to keep all of these first-person shooters in mind for August.

5. Battlefield 2042

YouTube Video

Oh, remember EA's Battlefield 2042? We didn't either, to be honest. But that was before we found out how much Dice has been updating the game, which has been a lot. In fact, there have been about nine major updates since the release of Battlefield 2042, with its most recent one on August 2nd. We're also halfway through Season 1, which appears to be going well, so something must be going on – and that's because something is. The state of Battlefield 2042 has never been better.

That's right, eight months and nine updates later, we have a pretty stable Battlefield game. As a result, update 1.2, which was released on August 2nd, added a slew of new content to the game as well as changes to the Kaleidoscope map. Because this is the first map reworked for Battlefield 2042, players are flocking to try out the new scenery. That's why it might be worthwhile to spend the rest of August immersed in Battlefield 2042, as the first-person shooter is finally up to acceptable standards.

4. Valorant

YouTube Video

Many people are hesitant to play Valorant, but if you've been playing CS:GO for the better half of the last decade and haven't tried its counterpart yet, you should. We know adding special abilities to in-game agents sounds complicated but it creates some truly unique, site-based gameplay. However, there are two reasons why we specifically urge you to play Valorant in August.

The Masters Copenhagen Finals concluded on July 24th, with FunPlus Phoenix taking home the championship trophy. Anytime near Masters is a good time to get into the game because there is usually a wave of new players who follow. Another reason is that the game received an update on August 9th, which brought significant changes to multiple agents. Having said that, Valorant is one of those first-person shooters you just have to try, because you never really know how much fun it is until you give it a shot.

3. Escape From Tarkov

YouTube Video

We've discussed Escape From Tarkov on our blog before for other reasons, but it's truly a unique concept that you should try. That is if you want an FPS game that will have your hands sweating and heart racing. That's because in Escape from Tarkov, players equip their Playable Main Character (PMC) with weapons and gear and load them into a map to loot, kill, and extract. The catch is that if you die, you lose all of your loot, which basically serves as in-game currency. So, you could say that the stakes are high.

However, due to people constantly hoarding loot in Escape from Tarkov, the game resets all of its servers every 4-6 months, give or take. This returns everyone to their starting level and wipes their inventories, restarting the grind. And the most recent wipe occurred on June 29th, just over a month ago. That means it's still relatively new and a good time to get into the game because no one will be ridiculously geared just yet. If you really want to step outside your boundaries and try some high-stakes first-person shooters in August, Escape from Tarkov is the way to go.

2. Apex Legends

YouTube Video

Apex Legends has just launched its newest season, Season 14: Hunted on August 9th. With it, it's bringing a new Legend, overhauls for the King's Canyon Map, and a new battle pass with some tasty skins and cosmetics. All of which you can read more about here. When it comes to ranked gameplay, all players' ranks are soft reset (Not completely reset, but lowered by a rank or two) to reshuffle the competitive scene.

All of these are compelling reasons to jump into Apex Legends this August, but there's more. Season 14: Hunted is also bringing second, third, and fourth prestiges to the game for the first time. That means the grind has only just begun. As a result, expect a large number of gamers to prioritize Apex Legends over other first-person shooters this month. Since there is a ton of new content to grind with Season 14: Hunted launching.

1. Overwatch

YouTube Video

We can't believe it's been over 6 years since Overwatch was first released, which all started with this stunning Cinematic Trailer that really gave us goosebumps to play the game. However, when Overwatch 2 releases on October 4th, Overwatch will no longer be playable. And, while we're getting an equally epic cinematic journey that's getting us excited to play the new game, it's still sad to see Overwatch be replaced by its “newer” and “better” older brother.

That is why of all the first-person shooters you should play this August, we recommend Overwatch because there isn't much time left. There's just over a month and a half left to be more precise. That means you only have a limited amount of time to bask in Overwatch's glory and cherish the memories you made while playing the original game. Because we have no idea how Overwatch 2 will compare to its original. Especially with the gameplay change from 5v5 to 6v6.

So, what's your take? Do you agree with our top five? Are there other first-person shooters that you recommend in August? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

However, as of August 30th, in-game loot boxes will no longer be available, according to a blog post from Blizzard announcing the Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol.3 event, their third and final event. Just one of the moves being made by developers Blizzard as we get closer to the new free-to-play Overwatch 2. Which releases on October 4, 2022.

Overwatch's Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event, which begins today, August 9th, gives players one last chance to get limited in-game skins by purchasing Anniversary Loot Boxes throughout the event before it concludes on August 30th. When that date arrives, in-game loot boxes will no longer be available for purchase. However, after the event, you will still be able to earn standard free loot boxes. Then, any loot boxes you have lying around will open automatically before the release of Overwatch 2. Transferring all loot box items to Overwatch 2 when it replaces Overwatch on October 4th.

YouTube Video

Once Overwatch 2 launches, purchasable in-game loot boxes will be a thing of the past. Instead, Overwatch 2 will provide its players with a free and paid seasonal battle pass to earn in-game loot and cosmetics. With that, the games store will also continue to offer items for purchase. Similar to that of Epic Games model for buying in-game cosmetics in Fortnite; which has never featured loot boxes.

This is due to the fact that in-game loot boxes are widely regarded as an unethical form of gambling. Video games frequently target a younger audience, and paying money for in-game loot boxes where you don't know what you're getting is seen as encouraging gambling. Some countries, such as China and Belgium, have gone so far as to outright ban in-game loot boxes altogether.

So, what's your take? Do you agree with Blizzard's decision? Are you excited for Overwatch 2? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

Controversial news has been making rounds in the Overwatch Contenders league over the last few days. During the Overwatch Contenders 2022 Summer Series: Europe A-Sides, a tournament hosted by Blizzard, teams Munich Esports and 01 Esports were confirmed to be facing off in a best-of-seven semi-final (first to four games) in the winner's bracket on July 28th.

The winners' bracket semi-final match was well underway, with Munich Esports leading the series 3-0 and looking to seal the deal. O1 Esports, on the other hand, remained persistent and was able to claw back to make it 3-2, smelling a comeback on the horizon. However, that is when the unthinkable occurred. Overwatch Contenders officials abruptly ended the match, with a final verdict score of 3-2, seeing Munich Esports freely walk into the Grand Finals, and O1 Esports sent to the loser bracket finals.

This did not sit well with 01 Esports, and it appears that Ex Oblivione, the team they would face later that day in the loser bracket final, felt the same way. That's when both teams communicated with each other, that they would protest the ruling during their loser bracket semi-final match. Which they did, by loading into the game and having both teams stand around, refusing to play the objective.

The Outcome

At this point in time, the broadcast was cut off, and both teams were apparently threatened to be disqualified. This can be seen in a Tweet from Ex Oblivione player, Helv. With no compromise from both teams, finally, Overwatch Contenders remarked by releasing the statement below:

Effectively going back on their ruling, and letting teams Munich Esports and 01 Esports close out their original proposed best of seven today, July 29th. Munich Esports quickly stamped that match out 4-2 with the win. 01 Esports went on to play Ex Oblivione in the loser bracket final, taking the series 4-1. This advanced 01 Esports to today's Grand Finals against Munich Esports, which Munich Esports won 4-3.

We wish we could say it was a happy ending for 01 Esports, but evidently, it wasn't. This has sparked a massive backlash against Blizzard's treatment of semi-professional Overwatch Esports. If 01 Esports had maintained the momentum they had the day before, the outcome could have been very different.

So, what's your take? Do you agree with the Overwatch Contenders decision? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

Over the last few years, esports have expanded and become a global phenomenon. Today, it's a multi-million dollar industry and players from all over the world participate in the competitive gaming scene. Each year, millions of players try to break into the esports scene.

Making it big in esports is not a piece of cake. It needs years and years of practice and dedication (very much like sports). However, your efforts also depend on what type of game you want to play. For instance, RPGs and MMORPGs like Dota and League of Legends have a steeper learning curve. These games tend to be complex with characters, their abilities, and gameplay.

Meanwhile, esports games like Fortnite and Rocket League are easy to learn. They have not-so-complicated gameplay and a lenient learning curve. Even though these games are easier to play, they are hard to master.

Top 5 Easiest Esports Games in 2022, Ranked

Here's the list, ranked in the order of their learning curve (slightly tough to easy).

5) Overwatch

YouTube Video

An online FPS with a colorful ambiance and multiple game modes, Overwatch is the perfect blend of a gunfight and fun. The game features mechanical variety, having different characters with varying abilities against each other.

The game has produced players like Sinatra, JJonak, Jake, etc., in the past. However, it seems to be losing its position in eSports over time. There are multiple reasons for this –

  • Direct competitor Valorant, gaining momentum.
  • Lack of significant updates in the game.
  • Drop in popularity.

Although not to worry, the game has not entirely died yet. Some upcoming tournaments are- ESL One Stockholm Major, Mid-Season Invitational, PGL Major Antwerp, and IEM Katowice.

Honestly, the game is one of the toughest on the list. New players need a significant learning curve, while experienced ones need regular practice.

4) Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

YouTube Video

The fast-paced FPS has barely any ‘story’ but is a treat for gamers who love gunplay without unnecessary drama. Players get to choose from several maps and game modes. They can also customize guns and agents through micro transactions in the steam store.

Counter-Strike is over a decade old, but still holds an active competition in the eSports leagues. International players from different countries compete against each other in tournaments like PGL Major and IEM Rio Major. Players like Shroud, TenZ, and Shahzm have earned fame through the eSports CSGO platform.

The game is not easy to play but one can learn quickly. Platforms like YouTube and Twitch are crowded with CS GO players to date. You can simply hop on to one of the videos and learn the game within an hour.

3) Fortnite

fortnite esports

Globally popular title Fortnite offers a battle royale experience to gamers. You will be playing against a hundred others on the same map with a vast option of item loot. One needs to collect loot, manage inventory and build towers to defend against other players.

Pertaining to a massive fan base, Fortnite has an active eSports scene. However, for several reasons, the game has lost many active streamers. Famous personalities like Matsoe and Zarby have taken their leave and moved to other games. The fans have negative feedback towards the FNCS (Fortnite Championship Series).

Fortnite is relatively easy because of the presence of bots that behave similarly to real players. They make it easy to survive longer in a match.

2) Hearthstone

YouTube Video

Hearthstone is a fantasy-themed card game, where players go against each other with strategic moves, outdoing the opponent’s deck. The game offers several modes, from 1v1 to team battles and several others. The game has its roots in the Warcraft mythology of the same developer.

Hearthstone has a huge eSports presence where global players go against each other. Players like Liooon and Trump have made their way through the game, gaining popularity. The prize payouts go as high as 20 million.

Some of the famous tournaments this year are- ESL One Stockholm Major, Mid-Season Invitational, PGL Major Antwerp, and IEM Katowice.

However, this year the game has bid goodbye to its grand masters, making way for new members in the community. This is a big move for the franchise. The game has a casual approach, making it easy to learn. However, the mastery lies in the strategies of a player.

1) Rocket League

rocket league

You have definitely played football before, but not with cars. Rocket League is a football game with players on cars with jet engines.

Being a tier 2 game, the Rocket League has an active eSports presence. The game’s flagship event is the Rocket League Championship Series, which has been expanding and prize pool ever since. Famous names like GarrettG, Jstn, and Chicago are associated with the game.

The game has an easy outlandish ambiance with no complexity in controls. One can follow the tutorials and get used to the game in no time. However, it’s not easy once you start playing against experienced players!

Most of these games are easy to learn and tough to master. Just get a friend who plays one of these, learn from him and start playing with him regularly.

Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games are generally one of the most addictive gaming genres. That's because, while MOBAs appear to be simple on the surface, they're actually rather complex. The gameplay may come across as simple but in truth, MOBAs have an intricate combat system, with thousands of variables at play. That's been the long-standing success of the genre, which is displayed beautifully in the five best MOBA games of 2022.

To some, this list won't come as much of a surprise, since these MOBA games have dominated the genre for years, some even over a decade. That's why if you're searching for a MOBA to play in 2022, the ones on this list are a sure bet because they're not going anywhere. So if you're looking for click spamming and button-mashing fun, the five best MOBA games of 2022 will deliver it. All that's left to decide is which one you'll go for. Read on and find out!

5. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

YouTube Video

MOBAs are a pretty low-demanding game, and given how far technology has progressed, it's no surprise that the genre has a large following on mobile. It's actually expanding so rapidly that a list of the top five MOBA games on mobile would be appropriate. As it currently stands, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is evidence of just how popular mobile MOBAs remain. With its 2016 release, the game was one of the first to jump on the bandwagon, and its popularity is clearly evident by its seven million average monthly player count in 2022.

A common misconception is that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is associated with one of the most popular MOBAs of all time, League of Legends. Despite Mobile Legends: Bang Bang sharing many similarities to the popular MOBA, this isn't the case. It is its own game, produced by Moonton Games, and it has become so popular that even League of Legends: Wild Rift, the mobile spin-off LoL, hasn't even been able to surpass it. By achieving and holding this position for so long, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang remains one as one of the best MOBA games of 2022.

4. Overwatch

YouTube Video

When Blizzard released Overwatch in 2016, they did something with the genre that no other MOBA game had successfully done before. That was, put players into a first-person perspective in the online battle arena. The vast majority of MOBA games are top-down or third-person isometric. That's why when Blizzard beautifully orchestrated their first-person MOBA Overwatch, there was an understandable amount of hype for the game.

As a result, the high expectation, execution, and delivery of the game elevated it to a professional Esports game by 2018. Fast forward four years later in 2022, and Overwatch is still a highly-enjoyable and popular title. With its eyes set on expanding the game's current standing. Blizzard is currently working on an Overwatch 2 title, that will hopefully bring the game to a more impressive standing. The first beta test for the game ended just a couple of weeks ago, which has resulted in a lot of gamers returning back to grind their favorite MOBA game again.

3. Arena of Valor

YouTube Video

Arena of Valor was released in 2016 and was another title that was early to ride the hype wave for mobile MOBA games. And while Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is showing some outstanding numbers, Arena of Valor is even more impressive. The game is so successful, that six years later in 2022, it's averaging over 15 million players monthly. That's a big pill to swallow, but there's more baffling evidence that shows why Arena of Valor is one of the best MOBAs of 2022.

It may come as a surprise, but the game has become so popular and successful that the Arena of Valor World Cup 2022 has a prize pool of $10 million dollars. And just to make it an even more mind-boggling stat, the overall amount of prize money for the game in 2022 is just under $50 million. With that knowledge, you could make the argument that Arena of Valor is one of the more popular MOBA games of 2022. However, it makes sense once you experience the highly advanced and intense combat of the game's 108 playable heroes.

2. League of Legends

YouTube Video

If you've been around the gaming community, you've most likely heard of League of Legends. The MOBA was first introduced in 2009, and it has been the most popular MOBA year after year since then. Which probably has you asking yourself why it's not on the number one spot on our list. Even though the game takes the cake for player count, that's mainly because as complex as the game is, it's also not. LoL's success has always been that it's an easy MOBA to get into, that get's extremely addicting the more you play.

This isn't knocking the game by any means, as it will remain as one of the best MOBA games of 2022 and beyond. However, if you're going to dive into it, you can expect lots of rages and a rather toxic community that comes from its diehard fanbase. With that said, that doesn't take away anything from how the game plays, which is extremely engaging and competitive. Now, LoL has developed itself into a complete game, with hundreds of champions, tons of game modes, and a fairly challenging learning curve.

1. Dota 2

YouTube Video

The original Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) was actually a spin-off MOBA for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Since World of Warcraft was the most played game in the world at the time, it's no surprise tons of its player base gave the game a shot. Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, because Dota 2 isn't just the best MOBA game of 2022, it's also the highest-paid Esport game in the world. This year the Dota 2 Championships, which is known as The International is sporting a whopping $40 million dollar prize pool.

That's far more than any other MOBA game on this list and another reason why Dota 2 is the best MOBA game of 2022. And while the list of reasons why Dota 2 is the best MOBA is long, one of the main pillars is its advanced gameplay. The sheer amount of ways the game and its characters can be played and utilized with one another is barely even fathomable. So due to how tough the game is to get into, it makes sense that it doesn't amass the same player count as League of Legends.

With the Overwatch 2 beta ending on May 17, it's safe to say that reactions to the new and improved game were divided. If you were one of the lucky few who had beta access, we'd love to hear your opinions in the comments, since we're sure you have a similar feeling. Overall, there was a lack of new content and the game seemed like a re-skinned version of itself, leaving a poor first impression. In light of this, you're probably still dying to play a new game that matches the competitive FPS feel of Overwatch. That's why we're bringing you the five FPS games you should play before Overwatch 2.

All of the games on this list share characteristics with Overwatch and its soon-to-be second installment. They're also all centered on competitive team-based FPS action, so your Overwatch experience and knowledge should come in handy for these games as well. So, if you're searching for something to scratch that itch before Overwatch 2 arrives “sometime in 2023,” these games should do the trick. And hopefully, by then your senses will be sharp and refined for when the game releases.

5. Rainbow Six Siege

YouTube Video

The most noticeable change in Overwatch 2 is the shift from 6v6 to 5v5 multiplayer. It's not the shift we anticipated to see with the new title, and there are some disagreements over whether it's better or worse. Well, if you're on the opposing side of the fence, head over to Rainbow Six Siege. The game is an iconic 6v6 multiplayer FPS, with many similarities to Overwatch, not directly, but more or less in its gameplay and overall mechanics.

Firstly, each person must pick a character with their own abilities to help them in combat. These aren't as wildly creative as Overwatch, since Siege is more of a breach and clear shooter. Most of these abilities are based on real-life Swat Team devices and technologies. However, they work the same in that they could help change the tide of combat and need to try and be used effectively. Another area that needs to be used effectively, much like Overwatch, is teamwork. You won't be able to play this game alone, and it's practically necessary that you cooperate with your teammates in order to succeed.

4. Apex Legends

YouTube Video

The closest experience you can get to an Overwatch FPS battle royale is Apex Legends. This is mainly in terms of its playable characters known as, Legends. Hence the name. Currently, there are 18 Apex Legends characters, all with a passive, two core abilities, and one main ultimate. Sounding somewhat familiar? Much like in Overwatch as well, composition between these characters can be a deciding factor if your squad gets steamrolled through or not.

The game is extremely movement based which results in a lot of fast-paced action. If you've played Overwatch, you'll know that the team battles are flat-out frantic and chaotic. In turn, the battles in Apex Legends may not be as hectic as they're typically 3v3 unless that nasty third-party shows up. However, they're similarly challenging in terms of how quickly things take place. This is where quick-time strategic decisions need to be made to counter whatever the enemy team may be throwing at you.

3. Destiny 2

YouTube Video

Making parallels between Destiny 2 and Overwatch is a little more difficult than with the other games on our list. Mainly because there aren't many direct correlations. However, there still is a solid reason it's included, aside from it being an FPS/TPS. The game can be enjoyed in PvE, but we reckon most of you Overwatch fans will take a liking to the PvP. Much like Overwatch, communication, and coordination in movements, attacks, and abilities is key to success.

You can choose between three classes, which are Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans. Their abilities aren't overly game-changing but do come in handy from time to time. The main focus here is between team play and FPS action, which gets more and more extensive the deeper you dive into the game. As you progress your character's weapons and abilities further open up. Even more so in PvE if you're willing to give it a try. The game may not compare directly to Overwatch, but it's still worth the time of day to try out.

2. Valorant

YouTube Video

Now a highly comparable title to Overwatch can be found in Valorant. This game might just be exactly what you need to get prepared for Overwatch 2's release. In a similar setting to CS:GO, players face off 5v5 to protect/defuse a bomb site. The big comparison kicker, Valorants characters, known as Agents, come with their own abilities. These include a passive, two main abilities, and of course a game-changing ultimate.

It's actually a bit ironic how similar some of Overwatch's heroes are to Valorants Agents, with some being almost spitting images of each other. However, because of that, we can surely say that Valorant is an excellent option among the FPS games you should play before Overwatch 2. There are some ironic parallels between the two games, primarily with the characters, but Overwatch aficionados will undoubtedly resonate with the similarities between the two games.

1. Paladins

YouTube Video

Speaking of similarities between the two games, Paladins is a game that has been accused of copying Overwatch. Not just from the characters you play and their abilities, but also from the game modes and art style. As a result, many Overwatch fans have criticized the game for attempting to capitalize on the popularity of its original notion— which is far from the truth. However, because of all these similarities, we can say this is “the game” of FPS games you should play before Overwatch 2.

There is one defining difference between these two games, which is the character customization of Paladins. Through a “card” system, you can customize your character to appeal to your play style in that game. This allows for good cooperation of strategy in the game. This is much needed because Paladins is coming in on much bigger maps, with a much slower style. This puts the majority of focus on teamwork and strategy, something you should know all too well from Overwatch.

So, what's your take? Do you agree with our top five? Are there other games FPS games like Overwatch 2 that we should know about? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

Two notable games in the Esport competitive scene are Valorant and Overwatch. More often than not, Valorant has been compared to CS:GO, however, it does share numerous similarities with Overwatch. This mainly comes on the basis of each game's characters and their special abilities. Aside from that, the two games' maps, game modes, and basic mechanics are different from each other. So if you're unclear about which one suits you best, we got you covered. By comparing the difference in Agents vs Heroes, the difference in their abilities, and maps and game modes, you can decide which game is right for you.

What is Valorant?

valorant 2022

Valorant is a 5v5 character-based tactical shooter with the inclusion of unique agent abilities. Developed by Riot Games, players work together to either plant or defuse a bomb on the A or B bombsite on various maps.

While gun gameplay is the main focus for eliminating enemies, characters can also use their agent abilities to help. Each character comes with three basic special abilities and an additional fourth one, which acts as their ultimate. The agent's abilities vary from player to player and help change the field of battle in each round. Most agents' ultimates can work to kill opponents, however, the focus is still on FPS gameplay. There is a kick! If you want to use weapons and the added benefit of your hero abilities, they will cost you in-match money. You and your team get credited a certain allowance every round, which varies depending on your round performance.

What is Overwatch?

Overwatch is a 6v6 team-based action game where you play as and against various heroes. While playing various game modes, each player must choose a hero to play. Unlike Valorant, there aren't guns in Overwatch unless you pick a hero, like Macree or Soldier 76 who wields one. Each hero is different in his or her abilities, some are meant for marksman shooting, close-quarters melee, splash area damage, or just good old fashion run and gun. Alongside the character's weapon of choice, they come with three abilities, two basic ones, and one ultimate. These suit the character's role, of Tank, Damage, or Support and typically fall in line with the character's design as well.

Difference in Agents Vs Heroes

Valorant and Overwatch draw many similarities with one another, mainly for their playable characters. Currently, in Valorant there are eighteen total agents which are classified into four categories of the Duelist, Initiator, Sentinel, and Controller. Once you have picked your agent you are locked in as that character for the game.

In Overwatch, there are a total of 32 playable heroes. The three different hero roles are Tank, Damage, and Support. Team composition plays a huge role in Overwatch, more so than Valorant, so choosing your role will have more implications for the match. However, Overwatch doe's allow you to switch heroes mid-game, to adjust for strategy and composition.

The main difference between Valorants Agents and Overwatch's heroes is their impact in the game. Overwatch works entirely off of the hero you play and the abilities they're equipped with, as these make up the game's basic fighting mechanics. However, Valorant's basic fighting mechanics are FPS gameplay, with the added inclusion of agent abilities to shift the tide. So, neither one is better or worst, it depends on your preference of if you want more FPS inclusion or not.

Difference in Abilities

Credit: Sportskeeda

In Valorant each Agent has varying abilities, that can sway the momentum of a round. So for example, some characters' abilities include smoke bombs, walls to block sight, drones for radar, or even quick dashing abilities. Agent's ultimates can get more advanced. There is high area of damage inflicting ultimates, some grant your Agent with special attacking powers, to even being able to teleport anywhere on the map, or see anyone on the map. You can choose to use or not to use these abilities, as the importance is on using your gun, but they can play a huge role on the victor of the round.

In Overwatch, a hero's class defines their kit of abilities which in turn, defines the way that hero is played. For example, if you are picking a Tank or Support hero, you will be granted a primary offensive weapon, however, you're abilities will work to heal or block damage for other players. These are more team-based hero roles. However, for heroes in the Damage class, their abilities will grant extra powers to the hero or their primary weapon. Allowing you alternative way's to fight and inflict damage. This is the case for Ultimates between characters as well.

So, mainly the difference between Valorant and Overwatch's characters' abilities is their in-game impact. Overwatch relies on its heroes' abilities for in-game combat. Valorant relies on gun gameplay, with the additional benefit of abilities to further open up the gameplay.

Difference in Maps & Game Modes

Valorant Map (Left) Overwatch (Right)

Valorant currently has seven playable maps, that all work in an arena style. These maps work with two or three lanes, which players have to push through in order to get to the bomb site. The middle lane usually offers alternatives to push to each side of the map, rather than taking the direct route. All of these maps are playable, regardless of the game mode, with matches ending with the first team to win 13 rounds. Plant and Defuse is the most popular game mode, which is also the standard competitive mode, however, there are other non-competitive game modes such as replication, spike rush, deathmatch, and even snowball fights.

Overwatch currently has 30 playable maps. All maps are in different styles and don't follow one suit, like Valorant. Each game mode has its own playlist of maps from the overall pool that are appropriate for that game style. In competitive, there are four different game modes of Assualt, Control, Escort, and Hybrid. You can play the maps in non-competitive, alongside Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, and Elimination. These typically work in a best of three, with players switching sides each round.

The Final Verdict

In terms of characters and abilities, Valorant and Overwatch have many crossovers. However, in its core gameplay, the games are entirely unique. Valorant quite literally takes on the same gameplay and style as CS:GO, and is essentially the same in every way. Except for the added inclusion of character abilities, which change the battlefield and ultimates can offer various ways to kill opponents other than guns. Regardless of the character abilities, Valorants focus is on gun gameplay, compared to Overwatch whose focus is entirely on character abilities.

This means that Valorant isn't as detrimental in choosing its Agents, as abilities fall second-hand to guns. Overwatch is hugely important in choosing your hero as it defines the way that character is played and has a huge role in your team's composition. Both games, are high in strategy and have huge competitive scenes, so deciding on which one comes down to if you prefer FPS gameplay, over a concoction of various fighting styles. Neither is superior, and both succeed in their own style.

Waiting for Overwatch 2 while playing Overwatch over and over again can get a tad bit boring. It’s no surprise there, as even the best games out there are bound to grow stale at some point. Luckily, you don’t have to waste any time when you can start playing games similar to Overwatch. But which are the best ones out there? And which closely resembles Overwatch’s gameplay?

Overwatch is known to incorporate first-person, multiplayer, team-based gameplay. It also adds Player vs. Player MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), where teams of six go up against each other in the ultimate battle. Whether you’re on the defense or offering healing support to teammates, working together to balance each player’s role and securing your team’s flag often guarantees to win. It’s also set on near-future earth fighting against robots or Omnics. So if you’re looking to play similar popular, engaging, and fun hero shooters, here are the five best games like Overwatch to consider. Read on.

5. Team Fortress 2

Games Like Overwatch

Before there was Overwatch, there was Team Fortress 2. Released back in 2007, Overwatch is said to mimic most of Team Fortress’ team-based PvP mechanics and put its own spin on it. So you’re more likely to have a smooth transition playing Team Fortress 2. The game is still popular with an impressive fan following. It features team-based objective-based combat with nine characters and three classes to choose from. Each character has unique skills and abilities, and players need teamwork to succeed.

Team Fortress 2 features more customization options as new updates have been made constantly over the years. So you may find similar game modes to Overwatch, like Capture the Flag and Payload, though you can also craft resources, trade items, and swap between characters at will. If not for compelling similarities in gameplay and engaging gameplay, you may want to check Team Fortress 2 for spearheading Blizzard’s work on Overwatch

4. Paladins

5 Best Games Like Overwatch

Another popular hero shooter to look out for is Paladins. Similar to Overwatch, Paladins charges players with team-based PvP hero shooter missions to push a payload to its destination while defending themselves against the team's opponents. Despite claims of copying Overwatch’s homework, Paladins has quite distinct features. The game focuses more on tactical gameplay rather than gunning and running. So for players looking to spend more time strategizing, Paladins offers relatively slow pacing, lower damage, and higher mobility combat for tactical gameplay.

Also, Paladins has customization options through a “card” system. So besides its 40 playable characters with their unique weapons and skills, you could further mix and match characters’ specialties, tweaking gameplay to your choosing. Ultimately, this colorful, sci-fi fantasy free-to-play hero shooter game has gained massive acclaim and is well worth the try.

3. Dirty Bomb

5 Best Games Like Overwatch

Among the five best games like Overwatch is Splash Damage’s Dirty Bomb. Though it’s not the most original game on this list, Dirty Bomb offers a more straightforward gameplay style that is easy to jump in on with a realistic, mature theme to boost.

When a radiological attack takes place in London, players must investigate the attack and help cover it up. You can either attack or defend as one of 20 mercenaries, each with their unique skills and attributes. The gameplay is objective-based with a series of “go here,” “steal that,” or “blow this up” tasks. Meanwhile, the opposition team tries to stop you from a running and gunning game mode and heavy blasts to get through some checkpoints.

Taking on tasks solo can send you back to the lobby, so teamwork and communication are critical. So if you’re down to save London from dirty bomb attacks, why not have a go at it and let us know how it goes?

2. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

5 Best Games Like Overwatch

Shifting gears a little bit to a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, you may want to check out Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. Like Overwatch’s cartoony style, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has pretty attractively bright graphics with cartoony styling. And before you cross Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 off your list of next games to play, given how unnecessary warring plants versus zombies must sound, PopCap’s decision to merge casual aesthetics with hardcore, team-based sophisticated shooter gameplay actually turned out overwhelmingly great.

Whether you’re joining the plants’ or zombies' forces and defending your base from the opposing side, playing Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 proves just as fun and challenging as playing Overwatch. There’s an added twist as survival waves hit your base, increasing in difficulty with each wave. If you enjoy over-the-top action merged with light-hearted gameplay, this gem right here is for you.

1. Apex Legends

At the top of our ranking of the five best games like Overwatch is Apex Legends. Say Overwatch and PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) had a love child? It would be called Apex Legends. Combining battle royale gameplay with hero shooter team-based mechanics, Apex Legends pits three players against each other to crown the last ones standing as ultimate winners of the gaming session. As with Overwatch’s teamwork and balancing out each player’s role in the team, Apex Legends also offers distinct fighters, each with a unique set of skills to bring to the table.

Each team has three players, while the map can hold up to 60 players. Tactical squad gameplay is key. Once you’re at the landing spot, you’ll need to work together to loot for weapons and take down opposing teams. The last team standing wins! Keep in mind that having a healer on your team is just as crucial as a defense or tank player. So if you’re down to combining forces in a battle royale formula game with team-based hero shooter gameplay, this right here may very well be your next gem.

If you have been gaming for a while, especially since the 2000s, then it's likely that you know Activision-Blizzard all too well. Back in 2008, Activision was formed after Activision, Inc. merged with Vivendi Games. Together, they gave us some of the most memorable games, like Spyro the Dragon, Guitar Hero, and more.

Recently, Activision-Blizzard was once again in discussion due to its acquisition by Microsoft (and some very nasty lawsuits). This became one of the biggest acquisitions after the Sony x Bungie deal. With Activision, Microsoft can now compete with Sony and other gaming

Aside from the Call of Duty series and Hearthstone, Activision-Blizzard had delivered some of the most iconic games ever. With the new acquisition, we hope to see some of those legendary games revived or ported to Xbox.

5 Games that Activision-Blizzard Should Launch on Xbox

The video game company has delivered amazing games over the years, and there are quite a few titles we would like to see revived or released on the Xbox.

5. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

tony hawk's pro skater

In the last decade, skater games were a raging trend. Every gamer has played at least one skater game in their lifetime. Of course, Activision had to jump onto the trend, so Neversoft released Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in 1999. By then, Activision had acquired the company. The launch of the game coincided with Hawk's popularity, and the game was a massive hit.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was your classic arcade where you did a lot of aerial flips to beat high scores. As you can guess, the initial titles in the series were a hit. But some of the later entries failed to impress the audience. In 2020, Tony Hawk's Skater Pro 1+2 made its way to PS4, Xbox One, and Windows.

There has been little discussion over the skateboarding franchise since. Of course, this game may not be the first one to get a makeover on Xbox. But we can hope for an ultra-modern 3D version of Pro Skater with a multiplayer mode and several maps.

4. Pitfall!

pitfall

Remember Atari 2600? Yeah, Activision is THAT old.

Players who had an Atari 2600 will remember an Indiana Jones-style game called ‘Pitfall!'. The explorer in the game would set out on adventures. You, as players, could control the explorer and jump over alligators, swing from trees like Tarzan, and do much more.

The adventure game is an old-timey classic that many fans fondly remember. As you might have observed, the Xbox (or any other modern game console, for that matter) doesn't really have many 2D action games. Considering that Microsoft has resources, they might revamp Pitfall! and give it an overhaul.

3. Guitar Hero

YouTube Video

If you were into those music video games of 2005, then there's no way you haven't played Guitar Hero. Activision took it up a notch with the guitar-shaped controllers, making everyone feel like a rockstar. Of course, a novel concept like this was a massive hit, and the franchise was successful.

Players could almost mimic playing a real-life guitar with the whammy bar and all. The gameplay was rather simple – you had to match the notes of the music with your controllers. The game featured a ‘career mode' wherein players could play all the songs, cross levels, and enter the hall of fame.

The special controllers made the video game a little expensive, but most players thought it was worth it. The franchise went on to have six successful titles from 2005 to 2015. Of course, there were several spin-offs, ports, and expansions. With the new acquisition, we hope that Activision-Blizzard has some similar musical games up their sleeve.

2. Overwatch

overwatch activision-blizzard

Technically, Overwatch is available on Xbox One as a standalone title, but let's admit it, Overwatch needs some major revamping. It's no secret that Overwatch 2 has been long overdue and yet, looks like it won't be out for a while. Even though the game enjoys a good esports competitive scene, it saw a substantial decline in viewership.

To compete with the likes of Valorant, Overwatch needs to keep the audience engaged with new content. It has been a long while since they introduced a new character to the game. Sadly, the game isn't as big as it used to be anymore. The Overwatch esports tournaments this year would determine whether or not Overwatch will sustain itself in the competitive scene.

In any case, we wish to see Overwatch getting a cool makeover and feature on the game pass to recapture some of the audience. And the developers better hurry up with Overwatch 2.

1. Prototype

activision-blizzard games on xbox

A protagonist that can shapeshift into anything? Sign me up already!

In 2009, Activision published ‘Prototype', an action-adventure video game with a dystopian theme. Set against the backdrop of urban Manhattan, protagonist shapeshifter Alex Mercer tries to unearth his mysterious past. At the same time, a lethal plague, ‘Blacklight,' has infested the city, and it's transforming people into monsters. Players take control of Alex in the open-world action game.

The game was as exciting as the plot sounds and received a positive response from players. Most players loved the combat, storyline, and huge arsenal of weapons. The sandbox gives players the liberty to explore the plague-infested open world. Following the success of the first game, they released Prototype 2 in 2012.  Prototype 2 was equally well-received, and some felt it had outdone its predecessor.

Considering that graphics and GPUs have come a long way since 2021, we can imagine how stunning a Prototype game will look in 2022. Now, let's hope Activision revives the Prototype franchise and rolls it out on Xbox.

The esports industry has multiplied leaps and bounds in the last few years and it shows no signs of slowing down. The competitive scene of video games has witnessed massive participation in terms of the player base as well as viewership.

Even though the pandemic has been raining on everyone’s parades, the esports industry is all set to have an amazing 2022. If you are a newbie looking to enter the esports scene or simply wondering what to watch out for in 2022, you’re at the right place!

Top 10 Esports Games to Check Out in 2022

This order is based on the number of players, tournament prize pool, and overall popularity. Here are top 10 esports games to keep an eye on in 2022.

1. CounterStrike: Global Offensive

cs go

This one needs no introduction. CS: GO was released way back in 2012. Even after seven years, the game has a strong user base and the prize pool for its tournaments only keeps getting bigger. The CS: GO community is very active and the shooter is one of top esports games.

The visuals of the game look slightly older and the “story” may not be as intense as some of the newer games. However, those who like pure gunplay without all the drama will surely love CounterStrike: Global Offensive.

Needless to say, CS: GO enjoys a highly competitive esports scene with countless tournaments. As a newbie, it will be difficult to master the gunplay. But CS: GO is all set to have another bright year.

2. Valorant

valorant 2022

Valorant saw a quick surge in popularity and user base right after its release. Comparatively, the game showed strong potential for competitive play really early. It managed to enter the esports scene quickly with a strong player base. Valorant faces strong competition from industry veterans like Call of Duty and CS: GO

In 2022, Valorant is gearing up for competitive play for the second year. We will know if the tactical shooter will be able to sustain its popularity or not. The viewership of tournaments will give us a fair idea. You can consider going pro with Valorant as the player base is still budding.

3. League of Legends

league of legends esports

League of Legends remains a popular RPG-MOBA title and is one of the biggest esports games. The game is free to play and attracts a lot of players. Strategic tower defense and role play make it one of the finest RPGs that you’ll ever play.

LoL has a strong player base and fans across the globe. Every year, Riot Games sponsors the League of Legends Championship Series. The prize pool is over $2 million and the tournament is quite a crowd puller. The 2021 World Championship managed to get 73 million viewers.

In 2022, League of Legends is likely to pull off another record-breaking season. If you’re into MOBAs and RPGs, then you need to check out LoL.

4. Fortnite

esports games 2022

With frequent updates, Fortnite introduces new characters, new weapons, and has a decent story overall. With celebrity concerts and superhero skins, Fortnite has made a mark on pop culture. The colorful atmosphere and zany characters are welcoming to all kinds of players.

For the 2019 Fortnite World Cup, the prize pool was a whopping $30 million. Given the popularity of the game, this pool will only keep getting bigger.

The microtransactions and all the “hype” surrounding the game may not appeal to some players. If you are a beginner, you can give Fortnite a shot.

5. Dota 2

dota 2 esports

Dota 2 is another popular esports title that pops up alongside CS: GO and LoL. The MOBA game was launched back in 2013 and still retains a loyal player and fan base. Every year, Dota 2 makes headlines with its insane prize pool and this makes it one of biggest esports games.

Dota 2’s The International tournament had a prize pool of $40 million in 2021. Needless to say, the enormous prize pot happened to be the biggest one in esports history. This year too, the tournament is likely to break new records.

By no means is Dota 2 an easy game to master. But if you’re a MOBA fanatic, then you cannot get classier than Dota 2.

6. Hearthstone

esports games 2022

Blizzard’s Hearthstone is a fantasy-themed trading card game. The game has been around for a while and enjoys a loyal fan base to the day. The digital 1v1 game is a turn-based strategy game wherein the two players try to outdo each other’s decks.

For 2022 tournaments, Hearthstone has restructured its esports scene a bit. For one, they have bid goodbye to the Grandmasters. The scope of the World Championship has been widened to accommodate more players. It’d be interesting to see how the changes will be received by the community.

7. Rocket League

rocket league 2022

Rocket League, the beloved football-based game of 2015, enjoys a strong competitive scene. The fancy sports car slamming jumbo balls around the arena is a pleasure to watch. As you can imagine, the tournaments attract players and viewers alike.

All the Rocket League pros assemble at the annual Rocket League Championship Series. The last championship had a cool prize pool of $1 million. Despite the pandemic, Rocket League has shown steady growth. In 2022, the game is expected to portray steady growth.

If you are into cars and football, Rocket League is a game you need to try.

8. Rainbow Six Siege

rainbow six siege

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is another colorful tactical shooter with a promising esports future. However, the game is pitted against veterans like Call of Duty and CS: GO. Newer games like Valorant, Fortnite, and Halo: Infinite also pose a competition.

Rainbow Six has its tournaments lined up for 2022. We can expect steady growth in the player base and viewership. However, the upcoming year will determine how Rainbow Six will fare against the competition.

9. Apex Legends

esports games

Titanfall games failed to get the attention they deserved. But Respawn’s Apex Legends gave the developer the due credit. Apex Legends is another battle royale/ survival shooter game, but with a twist.

Set in the Titanfall universe, the game has several characters with unique abilities. These legends have smart futuristic outfits (but not too colorful) and cool weapons. The innovative ‘ping’ system makes the game action-packed.

Apex Legends was one of the popular games on Steam. Although the game faces competition from PUBG and other shooters, it is likely to grow in 2022. It is backed by developer support and has several esports tournaments lined up.

10. Overwatch

overwatch

Overwatch is a tactical shooter from Blizzard that has a good esports foundation. With the cool characters, colorful theme, and great gunplay, Overwatch is a fan favorite. Every year, Blizzard hosts the OWL Playoffs, Overwatch World Cup, and other tournaments.

However, the viewership of the tournaments has been dipping. Last year, OWL Playoffs had a viewership of 134,000 (a significant decline since the last tournament).

Overwatch needs to do something to bring back the interest. Delays in releasing Overwatch 2 have also affected the viewership in general. The 2022 tournaments will determine the future of Overwatch.

Most video games are easy to learn. You can get the hang of the controls simply by playing a few rounds or getting a buddy to teach you. However, mastering it needs time and practice. You can learn a lot from YouTubers, streamers, and by watching tournaments.
