The game is equipped to handle multiplayer scenarios quite well, even in crowded areas. This is great, as this is usually a pain point for some VR adventure games.

There is quite a bit of progression and customization in the game, this can be seen in the many outfits and armors players can wear. When Hell and virtual reality converge, prepare for an epic journey into eternal damnation like never before. Hellsweeper VR is a highly anticipated game set to grace the revolutionary PSVR2. From our PSVR2 review, the headset's 2000 × 2000 (4.1 MP) resolution per eye delivers insane graphics for compatible games. As you don the headset, the world around you dissolves, giving birth to an alternate universe where logic bends, and imagination reigns supreme.

What better way to experience this realism than descending into the pits of hell? Imagine engaging in intense battles amidst the infernal abode. If this excites you, how about a sneak peek of an upcoming game? Here's Hellsweeper VR: Everything We Know.

What is Hellsweeper VR?

Picture Devil May Cry, but instead of hunting demons on Earth, you attack them right from the comfort of their home, hell! Hellsweeper VR is a first-person roguelike combat game. Your mission is to eliminate the ne'er-do-wells of hell in an epic combat style. The possibilities are limitless as you take on the fiery beasts.

“DARE TO DESCEND INTO HELL?” the game's Steam page description reads, “Hellsweeper VR is an intense first-person action-combat VR experience. Traverse the underworld, where every step brings a challenge or a chance. Gain mastery of your weapons and elemental magic, or fall to the unrelenting onslaught of hell's twisted souls.”

Moreover, in a Q&A section on the developer's website, Mixed Realms revealed that this upcoming title is akin to Sariento. The developer clarified that it's not a sequel since Hellsweeper occurs in an alternate world. However, mechanics in the game will be similar, “especially its locomotion system.”

Story

Hellsweeper VR

So far, the details of the game's storyline are sketchy. We know players take on the role of an undead immortal, also known as Hellsweepers. Your mission is to eliminate all the demonic souls inhabiting hell. This calls for descending into the realm of fire and launching various attacks on the otherworldly entities, the architects of nightmares. We can draw similarities to The Outsiders' Metal: Hellsinger; the grand difference is that there's no beat to synchronize your attacks.

Gameplay

Hellsweeper VR unlocks the portal of horror and purgatory nightmare with its first-person perspective that places you in the pits of fire. The game features three modes; roguelike, sandbox, and multiplayer. At the time of writing, we had a go at the roguelike mode, which the developers availed through the free demo. Here's a quick breakdown:

Players start the game from the hall, which is pretty much an area shrouded in apocalyptic allure, with a gothic and disquieting atmosphere. Here you can select the game mode you desire and alter its difficulty. The hall also offers access to additional. I implore you to check out the tutorial for a complete gist of your powers.

Moreover, you can also access an inventory of weapons and skills to begin with. The game allows you to select two starting skills. Regarding weapons, players can choose between wielding a sword or gun or having a deadly dog companion. Now that you're all armored up, it's time to enter the depths of hell.

What's great about this game is the endless possibilities you have when taking down your enemies. Of course, this is significantly made possible with the power of VR. Moreover, players can summon weapons and use telekinesis against opponents.

Furthermore, the game map contains chest boxes that can be unlocked by destroying mini towers that hold the keys. With all keys in hand, you can open the chest boxes, which either grant you access to new weapons or upgrade your skills.

From the horse's mouth, “Combat is the bread and butter of Hellsweeper VR, and we intend to let players enjoy this experience down two tracks – physical combat, and the magic system. Advanced players can choose to combine both to greater effect.”

Development

Hellsweeper VR

Hellsweeper VR is a masterful creation by Mixed Realms Pte Ltd and published by Vertigo Games. Following the resounding triumph of Sariento VR, the developers embarked on a daring quest to birth a new game, honing its arcade-style action while preserving its signature movement elements. Perhaps the key to Mixed Realms' success is their artful reliance on the gaming community's feedback.

On June 19, the developer released a demo mode, giving players a delightful taste of what this game is destined to become. This is part of tradition for the developer since it's how Sairento VR rose to its critic acclaim spot. And now, in keeping with its precedence, Mixed Realm is calling upon the community to share feedback on their preefrences.

News reaching the grapevine is that the developer will soon release an alpha demo. If you want to be among the first to give this a try, you can keep up the game's Discord channel here.

Trailer

YouTube Video

If this sends waves of excitement through your brain, you'll no doubt want to get a sneak peek at some of the game's pre-launch footage. Mixed Realm shared the game's announcement trailer five months ago and dropped the game's official release date trailer a month back. You can see them for yourself in the videos embedded above.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Previously, developers had revealed the game's possible release in Q4 2022. However, circumstances pushed the release to Q2, 2023, and now we have a release date of September 21, 2023!! Mark your calendars, people.

As mentioned, an alpha demo is in the works before we experience the game in its full glory. But if this preview builds a whirlwind of anticipation, you can pre-order the game on Steam.

If you have a deeper thirst to dive into the pits of eternal damnation, a Digital Deluxe edition awaits you. The edition gives you access to a digital art book, a faithful yet mystic hound companion, and an eerie soundtrack that ties it all together in a neat bow.

If you're interested in staying up to date with Mixed Realm's latest project, be sure to check in with the team on their official social feed here. If anything changes ahead of its planned release date, we'll let you know all the details on gaming.net.

So, what's your take? Will you get your hands on Hellsweeper VR when it releases on PSVR2? Let us know your thoughts on our socials here.

The world of VR gaming is ever-evolving, where the limits are constantly pushed and the excitement never ceases. Just when we thought we had witnessed the ultimate in immersive experiences with the Oculus Quest 2, Meta swooped in and unveiled the awe-inspiring Meta Quest 3. Meanwhile, Apple, a tech powerhouse, has decided to make its mark in the VR world with the groundbreaking Apple Vision Pro, its first 3D camera.

Now, a fierce showdown for supremacy ensues as these two giants prepare to unleash their creations upon the world. While it's too early to declare a winner, we can still make a comparison based on the sneak peek features Apple and Meta have released onto the market. Without much further adieu, here’s Meta Quest 3 vs Apple VR, where the future of VR headsets hangs in the balance.

What is Meta Quest 3?

Meta Quest 3 is an upcoming VR headset, which Meta describes as its “next-generation virtual and mixed reality headset.” It is customary for the tech giant to launch new VR hardware after every Meta Connect.

This remarkable device, unveiled by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on June 1, 2023, marks Meta's triumphant third-generation standalone VR headset. However, while our hearts yearn for its arrival, the actual release of this technological marvel remains a distant dream, with Meta setting its sights on it gracing our doorsteps in the fall of 2023.

Meta Quest 3 is a magnificent leap forward, surpassing its predecessor's achievements. Fortunately for you, we've already compared the two here

In retrospect, Meta has had a streaking sales performance, with its previous headsets selling nearly 20 million units since 2019. Historically, this is a testament to their unrivaled success in the market.

What is Apple VR?

Apple VR

A first for the pioneering tech maestro, Apple Vision Pro is a mixed-reality headset that seamlessly merges the digital and physical worlds. The augmented reality headset allows you to look through and into it, famously garnering the name “Apple Glass.”

Moreover, the headset lets you indulge in a thrilling and immersive VR session while watching your surroundings. With this, you can say bye to the jump scares of someone walking into the room and tapping your shoulder without noticing.

Speaking during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple CEO Tim Cook described the device's outlook as a pair of ski goggles. From what we can deduce, the headset allows you to unlock new dimensions of interactive experiences.

Tech Specs

Meta Quest 3 Vs Apple VR

Since the two headsets have yet to launch, we can still compare which has a better performance capacity. Thankfully, each announcement included a glimpse of the headset's specs to work up our appetites. Here's how the Meta Quest 3 compares to the Apple Vision Pro.

Meta Quest 3:

  • Display Type: LCD
  • Refresh Rate: 120Hz
  • Chipset: “Next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon”

Apple Vision Pro:

  • Display Type: Micro-OLED
  • Refresh Rate: 90/96 Hz
  • Chipset: Apple M2 (5 nm)

Evidently, both headsets have different display types, but the deciding factor is the refresh rate. A higher refresh rate translates to a smoother and more fluid visual experience. This means the VR headset can update the images more frequently, resulting in smoother motion and reduced latency. A higher refresh rate can enhance the sense of presence and realism in virtual environments, making the VR experience more comfortable and immersive for you.

To sweeten the pot, Meta Quest 3, like its predecessor, is an all-in-one headset. This means you don't need cables to connect to a computer or console.

Moreover, Apple's M2 chip is an upgrade from the previous M1 chip. The M2 brings a boost in performance and transistor count. Compared to the Meta chip, the Next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon offers brilliant performance compared to its predecessor chips.

Gameplay

Meta Quest 3 will launch with a new roster of games. Meta unveiled a list of 25 games during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase that will be coming to the platform. The games include Assassin's Creed Nexus, Stranger Things VR, Silent Slayer: Vault of the Vampire, Asgard's Wrath 2, Arizona Sunshine 2, and more. You can view the full list of games here.

Thankfully, the headsets will also support Meta Quest 2's 500+ game catalog from day one of its launch. Interestingly, most of these games are compatible with the PS VR.

Also, it was very strategic of Meta to announce the launch of its improved headset a week prior to the Summer Game Fest. This means we could be looking at new games coming to the VR headset over the coming weeks.

What is the Price Tag?

The revolutionary technology incorporated into the two headsets does not come cheap. The Meta Quest 3 will retail for $499. This is $200 more than its predecessor, considering that Meta has now lowered the price of the Quest 2

In contrast, the Apple Vision Pro will certainly cost the average American gamer an arm and a leg. The headset will retail for $3,499, more than ten times the cost of the Meta Quest 3. However, given the depth of engineering and impressive features it beholds, the exorbitant price tag makes sense.

Verdict

Unfortunately for gamers, the Apple Vision Pro does not prioritize gaming. From a computing point of view, the Apple Vision Pro is a top contender that focuses on improving workplace solutions. In contrast, the Meta Quests were initially launched for VR gaming, with workplace modalities being an afterthought.

That being said, we are yet to find out whether Apple will include gaming specs in its new line of VR headsets. If so, the headset would definitely give Meta a run for their money, given the hyped-up performance capabilities.

Furthermore, the Meta Quest's wireless design makes it a favorable contender compared to the Apple Vision Pro, which is a tethered headset.

So, what's your take? Who do you think takes the cake in the Meta Quest 3 vs Apple VR face-off? Will you be getting Meta Quest 3? What features stand out for you? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

2016 was the year PlayStation opened its doors to the world of VR. The PlayStation VR took the gaming world by storm. Its major commercial success necessitated the tech giant to broaden its depth and give its fans yet another spectacular headset, the PlayStation VR2. The PSVR 2 is the newest kid on the block, giving other VR headsets a run for their money. On the other hand, the Valve Index has been around for some time. It is one of the PC-based VR systems that is remarkably outstanding. The two headsets have one thing in common, they are both tethered. Other than that, their performance capabilities are primarily different. If you are curious to know how the headsets stack up against each other, here's a breakdown in our latest feature, PlayStation VR2 vs Valve Index.

What is PlayStation VR2?

PlayStation VR2

PS VR 2 is the latest VR headset from Sony, built for the PS5. The headset features cutting-edge technology that promises to elevate the immersive virtual reality experience. Thankfully, Sony's innovative and visionary technological approach consistently delivers products that redefine the industry. And the PS VR2 is no exception.

The PSVR2 promises to deliver more than its predecessor, the PSVR. The PSVR was a worthwhile contender to other VR headsets, such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, for the longest time running. However, other consumer brands switched to the “gen-2” wave, making the PSVR appear somewhat outdated. With better resolution, an enhanced field of view, and better tracking, the PSVR2 clearly outshines the PSVR.

Admittedly, the new headset's most notable feature is the VR controller. which borrows a few features from the DualSense wireless controller. Moreover, with only a single cable connected to the headset, users will soon experience seamless gameplay.

What is Valve Index?

Valve Index

Valve Index, an immersive VR headset introduced by Valve in 2019, represents the epitome of virtual reality technology. Designed exclusively for PCs that meet its demanding specifications, this headset remains unrivaled despite its early release. Similar to the PS VR2, the Valve Index is a tethered headset, but their similarities end there.

Although it has a substantial price tag, the experience it offers is truly priceless. While setting it up may require a high-end PC and a touch of patience, once you step into its realm, you are instantly transported to a fully immersive universe where distant galaxies feel within arm's reach.

To achieve this truly immersive experience, the Valve Index requires a bit of work to set up. You will need to plug the headset into a PC using DisplayPort 1.2 and USB 3.0 cables. The headset comes with two SteamVR base stations, which you'll need to plug in and place around your room. With this out of the way, you are now ready to play.

Tech Specifications

PlayStation VR2 Vs Valve Index

Despite various reviews crowning OLED as the king of the display, for VR, what matters most is the refresh rate and display resolution. While the index has a lower resolution than the PSVR2, it has a higher refresh rate that can compensate for the missing pixels. Moreover, the Valve Index features a dual-fresnel lens. This means the headset combines two separate lenses into one. As a result, players experience less visual distortion thanks to the headset controlling light from the display engine.

Despite its annoying setup, the Valve Index's controllers make it worthwhile. The controllers are accurate with the DualSense adaptive triggers. Meaning they detect individual finger movements instead of the index, thumb, or middle finger. Moreover, they are ergonomic and comfortable to handle.

Nevertheless, the PSVR2 still has a significant edge over the Valve because of its OLED display and wide resolution. Its foveated rendering optimizes viewing so that items in your peripheral view appear blurred while the object in front of you is as clear as glass. What's more, the platform integrates an eye-tracking feature that effortlessly takes the cake. This means that Sony is integrating eye-tracking technology into the headset. This is an upgrade from the PSVR, which uses a visible light spectrum to track your movement.

PlayStation VR2:

Resolution: 2000×2040 per eye

Refresh Rate: 120Hz

Display: OLED

Optics: Fresnel

Valve Index:

Resolution: 1440 × 21600 per eye

Refresh Rate: 144Hz

Display: LCD

Optics: Doublefresnel

Gameplay

The PSVR 2 game lineup supersedes its predecessors. The headset lets you experience a new dimension of gaming with thrilling titles like Horizon: Call of the Mountain, surpassing its predecessors' visual and immersive capabilities. For loyal fans of the PSVR, worry not. You can still embark on epic adventures with most of your favorite PSVR games, revamped and optimized for the remarkable PSVR 2. You may, however, miss a few titles, like Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. You can view the games that will be launching on PSVR2 here

On the other hand, the PC has a wider inventory of games compared to any other console. The Valve Index uses Steam VR to broaden its library of VR games. It would be challenging for PSVR 2 to match up to this, given the evolving console technology. Plus, with the headset not being backward compatible with PS VR games, that leaves a chunk of the collection out of the library.

Verdict

Deciding which of the two headsets is superior to the other boils down to several factors. First, for an uninterrupted, smooth gaming experience, the Valve Index delivers a 144Hz refresh rate with a larger field of view. Additionally, the platform is compatible with a wide breadth of games that the PSVR2 has yet to come close to.

However, the PSVR2's integrated eye tracking technology, dynamic foveated rendering, and higher resolution speak to an upgraded visual experience.

The question that now matters is which of the two is within your price range. The PSVR2 retails for $549 on Amazon, while the Valve Index Full VR kit goes for $1,455.97 at the time of writing. If you have the money, the Valve Index is a decent headset.

So, what's your take? Who do you think won in the PlayStation VR2 vs Valve Index? Which one will you be getting? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!

If there’s any particular thing that we still haven't quite managed to wrap our heads around, it’s the fact that Assassin’s Creed Embers saw in the demise of our beloved Ezio Auditore. That was well over a decade ago, and to say that we’re still somewhat salty about the whole concept of the grandmaster of the brotherhood being dead and buried is an understatement. Needless to say that what’s done is done, so surely there are no valid reasons to restore the pages of book that’s already been written and published, right? Well, you’d have thought so. Not according to Ubisoft, though, who’s working on reviving the famed hero for an all-new virtual reality experience titled Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR. That’s happening, apparently.

Besides the fact that Ezio will be making a return in VR form, Ubisoft has also shed light on several other aspects of the so-called Nexus project. Care to learn more? Here’s everything we can currently tell you about the upcoming VR addition to the acclaimed saga.

What Is Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR?

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is an upcoming virtual reality game—a collection, if you will, of three of the saga’s prestigious characters’ adventures during their time with the brotherhood. These characters are Ezio, Kassandra, and Connor—all of whom will have their own story arcs in a full-fledged triple-A chapter in the Assassin’s Creed timeline. And just to reiterate — it won’t be a half-baked stint in the realm of virtual reality, but a full-fat title with all the bells and whistles of any modern AC title. The only difference is, well, it’s in VR.

“We didn’t set out to make a small, little VR experience with a little bit of Assassin’s Creed sprinkled on top,” creative director David Votypka told IGN. “This is a true, proper, full Assassin’s Creed AAA game. It’s got a full campaign, full narrative, everything that you would expect. So it’s important for players to know that we went all-in on it, and we’re excited for them to discover everything that we have to offer.”

Story

Knowing that Nexus isn’t just your average VR rehash, it does raise the question of whether or not there’ll be a continuation in the overall narrative. To this end, we do know that Ezio, in particular, will be embarking on his journey two years after the events of Brotherhood, which will slot it somewhere in the years before Revelations and Embers. As far as Kassandra goes, her tale will begin roughly twenty years after the events of Odyssey, during the real-life period known as the Reign of the Thirty Tyrants. And finally, Connor will be introduced in 1776, during an undocumented period from Assassin’s Creed 3.

Going by the details that’s been left out by the guys over at Ubisoft, each of the three aforementioned heroes will tie in to one overarching modern day storyline relating to a new brainwashing technique absorbed by Abstergo Industries. At the heart of the newfound power, you will have the opportunity to delve deep into three completely different time periods and unravel a mystery that stretches across countless generations.

Gameplay

Unlike previous Assassin’s Creed games, Nexus will of course move away from the third-person format and put you straight behind the eyes of the three iconic protagonists, Ezio, Kassandra, and Connor. As one of the three heroes, you will have the opportunity to explore familiar landmarks, as well as utilise a thread of iconic tools and weapons, right down to the signature hidden blade. And it won’t just involve combat, either, as there’ll also be copious amounts of expiration, stealth, and parkour—all of which will come bundled in a full-length storyline made entirely for VR.

“Explore iconic historical cities including Venice, Athens, Colonial Boston and more,” Ubisoft adds. “Embark on quests with the autonomy to decide the best way to achieve your objectives. The campaign features open map environments with 360-degree navigation, allowing you to climb and parkour anywhere. Meet and interact with civilians and historical figures, all of whom react to your VR actions.”

Development

Assassin’s Creed Nexus was initially announced as a two-for-one package, with the second link in the chain being the now-cancelled Splinter Cell VR. In spite of the Tom Clancy chapter being discarded, Ubisoft has every intention of bringing Nexus to Meta Quest in late 2023. As for when in 2023 is anybody’s guess. Holiday 2023, though, apparently.

Trailer

YouTube Video

The good news is, Red Storm Entertainment did bring a trailer of the game a little earlier this month. Need we say more? You can catch a glimpse of Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR in the video embedded above.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR will be launching exclusively on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro at some point in “Holiday 2023”—so expect to see it arrive on the Oculus store before year’s end. Aside from that, there’s no telling when it’ll shed its Meta exclusivity; it’s likely it won’t at all, what with Ubisoft keeping such details on the DL. But who’s to say it won’t hit the likes of the PS VR2 in the future? We’re not chalking it out for the time being, anyway.

As far as launch editions go, Ubisoft has yet to announce anything other than its standard digital version on the Oculus store. You can add that to your wish list here.

If Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR has caught your eye, then be sure to check in with the team’s official social feed for all the latest updates here. We’ll be sure to let you know just as soon as Ubisoft announces a final release date right here on gaming.net.

So, what’s your take? Will you be picking up a copy of Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR when it comes to headsets? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.

The Valve Index is a great way to experience many different kinds of VR titles. Among these titles are multiplayer games, with a heavy emphasis on playing with others. This can be quite the feat to pull off well in VR. However, there are quite a few titles that have managed to do this wonderfully. So, to shed light on some of the best multiplayer VR games out there, please enjoy our list of the 5 Best Multiplayer VR Games on Valve Index.

5. Arizona Sunshine5 Best Games Like Arizona Sunshine

Today, we begin our list of the best multiplayer VR games available on the Valve Index with Arizona Sunshine. Now, for those unfamiliar, Arizona Sunshine is a zombie survival title that really manages to ramp up the intensity as well as the insanity. This gives the game a distinct sense of style and flair to its gameplay that is hard to replicate. Surviving the post-apocalyptic world of the game will require players to use all their teamwork skills. This will be especially important for the players who wish to succeed in the game, as the challenge can be overwhelming without teamwork.

This is because one player simply cannot do everything in the game. The game even heavily encourages cooperative play due to the fact that there is an entirely separate campaign for it. This is great and shows a dedication by the developers to bring cooperative gameplay to the forefront of the game. However, if you simply want to survive, the game also features a fantastic horde mode to experience. All in all, Arizona Sunshine is a great pick for one of the best multiplayer VR games available for Valve Index.

4. Rumble

Next up on our list, we are switching things up quite a bit. Rumble is a game that places heavy emphasis on its combat mechanics. Players will be able to wield and control the powers of the elements in many ways. This means players can, for the most part, create stone barriers and projectiles in order to launch at enemies. This means that players will l have to enact certain movements at certain times in order to defeat their opponents. Regarding combat, it's PvP 1v1 based, significantly emphasizing player skill and knowledge.

This makes the game something that rewards the player for learning all its individual tricks. That isn't to say that combat is the only thing players can do in the game, either. The game has a shared social space for six players at a time, in which they can train, play minigames and other activities. There are also a number of moves for players to learn across their journey, making the game feel really rewarding to play. To close, Rumble is perhaps one of the best multiplayer VR games available on Valve Index that more players should check out.

3. Quest Together

For our next entry, we are bringing players a game in which the possibilities are nearly endless. In Quest Together, players will be able to team up with their friends and go on epic VR adventures. This is great and manages to immerse the player within the game's world all the more. For players who want to bring their friends in on the fun, the game has a party size of up to four players. This means a decent amount of people can get in and have a great time. There is even PvP for those PvP enthusiasts out there.

Players can journey off together as they go on quests. This is managed by going to the game's in-game quest board. There are a decent amount of armor sets to collect and many other ways of customizing your hero. This is great for players who want to immerse themselves in the world through a character they create. The game also has a good sense of enemy progression, leading players from smaller groups of weaker enemies to bosses of immense power. So if you are someone who enjoys multiplayer VR games and loves adventure, check out one of the best titles on the Valve Index.

2. Pavlov VR

Our next title is one that should definitely be on the radar of tactical shooter fans. Pavlov VR is one of the most prominent VR tactical shooters. The gameplay for the game feels smooth and intuitive and also gives the players many chances to outfit their load-outs how they wish. This is great and gives the game a great sense of variety from mission to mission. The game also features a robust PvP offering that will keep more competitive players playing for quite some time.

There are quite a few benefits to choosing Pavlov VR over other VR titles. These benefits include things such as a fully functional offline mode, as well as a practice mode and shooting rang that can be very helpful for newer players. An aspect of the game that greatly ramps up the immersion and teamwork factor is the addition of proximity chat and VOIP. These systems allow players to communicate with one another better than ever. So if you are looking for one of the most realistic multiplayer games available on Valve IndexPavlov VR is a great choice.

1. Breachers

Now, for our final entry, we have a title that many players may or may not have heard of. Breachers is a tactical shooter that does a fabulous job of ramping up the tension throughout its leaves. It does this in a number of ways. These include things such as having a great audio system, which allows players to detect enemy footsteps as well as identify gunfire. The game is presented in a 5v5 format, which will make it feel familiar for Rainbow Six Siege fans.

An aspect of the game that really sets it apart is the fluidity of its animations. The weapons in the game all really handle quite well and have a certain weight to them, which feels great, even in VR. Defending teams will be able to use any number of traps in order to thwart would-be attackers. While the attackers have their own tricks up their sleeves in order to accomplish their mission. So if you are a fan of multiplayer VR games, definitely give Breachers a look, as it may very well surprise you.

With the advent of new VR technology, PlayStation VR2 games are being pushed further into the future. This is great to see, as it shows the new technology applied in a way that enhances these games. Among the games that are available for the PlayStation VR2, there are many multiplayer titles. However, some of these titles stand above the rest. And to highlight some of them here, we bring you our picks for the 5 Best Multiplayer VR Games on PlayStation VR2

5. Zenith: The Last City

We begin today's list of the best multiplayer VR games on PlayStation VR2 with a relatively new entry. Zenith: The Last City was only recently released toward the start of 2022. And it is already making tremendous strides for not only the VR platform but also the MMO space within that platform. The game has no problem wearing its influences on its sleeve either, as much of the game's world and characters are inspired by either JRPG or anime staples. This is hardly a bad thing, however, as it does manage to give the game a distinct style and appeal to a certain audience.

A major selling point for the game is also its combat, which feels intuitive, and for one of the first VR MMOs, actually feels immersive to play. This is great and offers the developers a firm foundation to build upon. And this is an experience that players can experience alongside many others, as the title certainly lives up to its MMO title as well. The game also features many MMO staples, such as dungeons and raids, as well as other multiplayer-based content. For these reasons, we consider Zenith: The Last City to be one of the best titles for PlayStation VR2 available.

4. Gran Turismo 7Best PlayStation VR2 Games Right Now

Switching things up quite a bit, we have a title that should be familiar to plenty of racing game fans. The Gran Turismo franchise, since its inception, has been dedicated to bringing players the most realistic driving experiences on the market. And Gran Turismo 7 is no exception to this. However, with the addition of VR technology, the game manages to elevate this racing sim to an experience that players aren't likely to forget. This cannot only be seen in the game's phenomenal gameplay. But also in its presentation as well.

Players can have all of the full functionality of the base game in VR, except for split-screen. This means players can race in online races and tweak their cars to their heart's content. This is great and has a way of bringing the player into the game like never before. The game's performance also doesn't take a hit when playing in VR, which is great to see. Overall, Gran Turismo 7 is a fantastic game to play in VR, especially for those gearheads out there. So if you haven't already, check out one of the best multiplayer games available on PlayStation VR2.

3. No Man's Sky VR

In terms of sheer scale, our next entry is definitely our largest. No Man's Sky VR manages to capture the near-infinite exploration of the game. This feeling is only enhanced by being in VR. And with the player being able to interact with their environments in a completely new way, this is great. For players who don't know, a lot of your time within NO Mans's Sky will be spent mining, learning about various flora and fauna, and building bases.

These actions still manage to feel great in VR, which is fantastic. There are a few things that certainly can be improved upon in the future, such as spaceship controls in VR, but for the most part, this is a great way to experience No Man's Sky. Another significant aspect of the game is the fact that it is free-to-play for owners of the game. This means players will not have to shell out extra money for the experience. So if you love exploration, check this out, as it is one of the best PlayStation VR2 games you can play in multiplayer.

2. Firewall Ultra

Our next entry is one that allows players to experience the high-octane gameplay of a tactical shooter. Firewall Ultra allows players to participate in PvE missions or PvP combat if they so choose. This is great as it diversifies the gameplay experience. And also allows players to tailor each play session to what they want. The game features a significant number of weapons for the player to use, and the mechanics all feel intuitive and keep the player immersed. Everything down to the flashbang mechanics is really immersive and will require players to act appropriately. The game also takes advantage of eye tracking, making weapon swapping much easier than in the previous Firewall game.

The game audio is also fantastic and allows players to pick out enemy locations based solely on sound. This makes for a really immersive experience that players can easily hop into and understand. That said, the round-based system also helps in this regard, as the simple defense and attack game modes are quite intuitive. So if you are looking for a tactical shooter that just so happens to be one of the best multiplayer games available on PlayStation VR2, check out Firewall Ultra.

1. After the Fall

Now for our final entry, we have After The FallAfter The Fall is an immersive multiplayer zombie survival game that allows players to team up with one another, this is great and can make for some really great cooperative moments. The presentation for the game is also- top-notch and can easily contend with many other offerings within this space. Players are able to team up with at least three others in order to last as long as they can in this harsh world.

Aesthetically, the game pulls from many 80s movie influences. These include things such as Red Dawn and the like. This makes fighting as the ragtag group of characters feel rather endearing. There are many different enemy types which all bring their own flair to the overall gameplay as well. This means players cannot simply shoot themselves out of every given situation. There is also PvP in the game, which is great to see for those hardcore multiplayer enthusiasts out there. To close, After The Fall is one of the games that perfectly captures the multiplayer experience on PlayStation VR2.

So, what's your take on our picks for the 5 Best Multiplayer VR Games on PlayStation VR2? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.

There’s something strange in the neighborhood: nDreams’ idea to transport Ghostbusters over to VR, as it goes. Granted, it isn’t something we would’ve expected from this year’s virtual reality lineup — but it’s a welcome addition nonetheless. And it just so happens to be an addition that’ll roll out to headsets as early as September 2023, too. So, for when that phone does decide to ring, make sure you’re around to pick up the receiver; Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will be on the other end of the line.

So, what will the upcoming VR entry bring to the table that other adaptations have simply failed to conjure?  Well, here’s everything we can tell you based on the information provided by nDreams to date. Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord — what, when, and most importantly, why? Let’s talk spirits.

What Is Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord?

In short, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is an upcoming single-player and four-player co-op VR game for Meta Quest 2 and PlayStation VR2. As a video game adaptation of the beloved cult classic movie series, players will have the opportunity to manage their own version of the Ghostbusters HQ, and with an arsenal of iconic equipment on hand, banish the ghosts and ghouls of San Francisco over a series of jam-packed mini-games and arenas.

“Strap on your proton pack and Meta Quest 2 and step into the world of Ghostbusters in immersive virtual reality,” opens nDreams’ description. “Run your Ghostbusters HQ in a new city, San Francisco, and unravel a rich mystery in a new chapter for the Ghostbusters universe.” How’s that for a big Twinkie?

“Wield iconic equipment as you track, blast, and trap ghosts in gripping encounters across an extensive and engrossing campaign. Go it alone, or as a team with up to three friends in co-op to defeat a ghastly new threat – the Ghost Lord. Continue the Ghostbusters’ legacy, protect the city from fiendish ghosts, and experience all the humor and frights from the beloved franchise.”

Story

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will transport you to the heart of the Ghostbusters HQ—a San Francisco-based facility that serves as the home for a four-piece quartet of legendary paranormal excavators. This is where you, either alone or with up to three friends, will take you place and essentially embark on a series of riveting ghost hunts around the city. Essentially, it’s every Ghostbusters fans’ dream, only whittled down into a fleshed out virtual reality experience.

There is still the case of having to unpack the “rich mystery” that the “extensive and engrossing” campaign will feature, mind you. That said, if it’s using the movies for its source material, then we’re certainly in for a treat with this one. Only time will tell, though.

Gameplay

From the looks of the footage, Rise of the Ghost Lord will feature a mixture of action and puzzle-solving, with the former being available to enjoy either alone or with three friends in its multiplayer campaign. As one of the famed Ghostbusters, you will have the opportunity to suit up and wield all the iconic gear—items taken directly from the series and lore—and work together with your team to both outsmart and capture the ghouls of San Francisco.

Weirdly enough, nDreams describes the game as being a horror. That said, the gameplay suggests otherwise, as it essentially fosters an aesthetic that’s slightly more humorous than anything else. In ways, though, I suppose it all boils down to who you share the experience with. In any case, labeling it as a horror game seems a little far-fetched, all things considered.

Development

With Meta looking to fatten up its Oculus Quest library, it doesn’t really come as much of a surprise to see one or two video game adaptations of classic movie franchises jolt to life. It was only a matter of time, really, before someone latched on to the idea of developing a Ghostbusters game with a co-op blueprint — and that just so happened to be nDreams.

After announcing it back in April 2022, nDreams has since posted several exclusive trailers of Rise of the Ghost Lord, most notably the extended gameplay preview that aired during The Game Awards in late 2022. According to the notes left behind by the devs, the VR entry will be shaping up for an optimistic Fall 2023 release on both Meta Quest 2, and PlayStation VR2. It hasn’t been said yet whether or not the game will roll out to other PC VR headsets, though I suppose at this moment in time nDreams will be wanting to keep its loyalty to Meta as tight as possible. Still, never say never.

Trailer

YouTube Video

Rather excitingly, nDreams has already gone ahead and posted a fair few sneak previews of the VR title, mostly advertising its clever use of co-op play and the core mechanics bolted to the motion controls. Need we say more? You can catch a glimpse of what’s to come in the upcoming multiplayer adaptation in the video embedded above.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

nDreams has confirmed a Fall 2023 release date for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, which of course puts it somewhere between September and November. As far as launch platforms go, it’ll be coming to Meta Quest 2 and PlayStation VR2, with the added chance of it branching out to the Meta Quest 3 in the months following its planned Q3 2023 release. But more on that later.

It’s doubtful that nDreams will have any form of special edition of the VR game ready to launch alongside its standard digital version. Who knows, though? Perhaps if it sells well, it’ll release as a bulkier edition with a few in-game perks to boot? I wouldn’t get your hopes up, either way.

If you’re keen to stay in the loop ahead of Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord’s launch, then be sure to check in with nDreams’ social feed for additional updates here. We’ll be sure to let you know just as soon as the devs staple a release date to it. Until then, just let everything else go straight to voicemail.

So, what’s your take? Will you be picking up a copy of nDreams’ upcoming VR episode when it drops later this year? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here

Mark Zuckerberg and the Meta squad have formally announced the Meta Quest 3, the third model on the VR/MR keychain. Turns out, the entrepreneur will be sharing all the pre-launch details surrounding the headset on September 27, 2023, at the Meta Connect event. So, if you happen to be on the hunt for a fresh portal to the world of virtual reality, then rest assured — the Meta Quest 3 will be launching later this fall.

So, what more do you need to know about it before it hits the shelves? How much will it cost, and how will it compare to the likes of the Meta Quest 2 and other noteworthy headsets? Well, here’s everything we can currently tell you based on the data both Meta and Zuckerberg have posted to date. Meta Quest 3: what is it, and how will it look to compete with the likes of the PlayStation VR2 and the Valve Index? Let’s talk VR.

What Is Meta Quest 3?

To make it clear, the Meta Quest 3 is a virtual reality (VR) and Meta reality (MR) headset — one that will not only have the power to support next-gen games, but a variety of apps and user-created experiences. What’s more, it’ll also be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR chip, which will offer “twice the graphical performance” as the Meta Quest 2. So, clearly a lot more than a simple rehash with a few tweaked components, then.

The good news is, the Meta Quest 3 will be entirely backwards compatible with the Meta Quest 2, which means users will still have immediate access to over 500 games and apps right off the bat. The only real difference, of course, is the boosted resolution, 4MP RGB color cameras, and “10x more” Passthrough pixels that it’ll employ. It’ll also be 40% slimmer than the Quest 2, which will make it a lot easier to not only transport, but experience without queuing any of those unwanted headaches or motion sickness spells.

Meta Quest 3 Price

The Meta Quest 3 will start out with a price tag of $499, making it just under $100 more expensive than the Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro. For those wanting to dive right in to the world of Meta Quest (formerly known as Oculus Quest), the Meta Quest 2 will be slashing its original tag, effectively reverting the base $399 tag back to its launch price of $299 for the 128GB version, and $349 for the 256GB edition.

Of course, $499 is really only the starting price for the Quest 3, meaning, there’ll be even pricier options post-launch. It’s hard to say what the asking price for these beefier models will be, though. Either way, the Meta Connect stream is sure to shed light on what’s to come later this year.

Meta Quest 3 Specs

Firstly, the Meta Quest 3 will launch with a standard capacity of 128GB, with “an additional storage option for those who want more space.” Saying that, Zuckerberg didn’t go into detail about what other storage options will be rolled out, though it’s likely the Quest 3 will also have both 256GB and 512GB models in addition to the bog-standard one.

What’s new here is the sleek design that the Meta Quest 3 fosters — a blueprint that has reportedly been designed from the “inside out.” With a softer mesh strap to support longer periods of play and a three-piece selection of cameras/sensors dotted along the front, users will have the opportunity to delve into an even more life-like experience — one that will accommodate a high-fidelity color Passthrough. This nifty feature will allow users to view the real world in color, unlike a lot of rival VR headsets that opt for a monochrome field.

According to the guys over at Meta, the newfound power to adapt to spacial awareness will let users delve into virtual realities for extended periods of time, “creating limitless possibilities to explore” from the comfort of your own home. What’s more, with the graphical enhancements being leaps and bounds ahead of its former model, players will also have photorealistic environments to not only interact with, but immerse in without any outside distractions. So, again, clearly a step up from its previous launch model.

The good news is, the Quest 3 will also continue to support PC VR via Oculus Link (otherwise known as Quest Link) and Air Link. Having this feature implemented in the next model will allow users to plug the headset into their PCs via a USB-C connector, and essentially experience all the same content through the power of the Oculus PC software.

Meta Quest 3 Release Date

While we can’t say for certain when the Meta Quest 3 will launch, we do know that it’ll be arriving later this year. Specially, in “the fall” of 2023, which slots it somewhere between September and December. Given the fact that the Meta Connect event is taking place in the latter half of September, however, it seems more likely that the Quest 3 will launch sometime in October or November. Don’t quote us on that, though.

What’s Next?

Of course, there’s still plenty we don’t actually know about the Meta Quest 3 — how the Touch Plus’ revised “ergonomic” controllers will differ from the Quest 2’s, for example. That said, with the Meta Connect event set to go live on September 27th, it’s likely that we’ll be getting a much deeper dive into the headset and its goal to open the portal to the Metaverse then. Until that time comes, however, it’s pretty much business as usual — and an extensive session of twiddling thumbs, no less.

If you’re planning on staying in the loop while Meta continues to iron out the creases for its next VR project, then be sure to check in with the official social feed for all the latest updates here. In the meantime, we’ll be adding a big ol’ circle around the Meta Connect stream on our calendars. If you’re about, be sure to check back with us for all the pre-launch details and patch notes.

So, what’s your take? Will you be getting your hands on a Meta Quest 3 when it releases later this year? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.

Bulletstorm VR, much like the name would imply, is an action-packed journey enhanced through VR. This action game has a lot to love about it. These include things such as fast and frantic gameplay and much more. That said, it is not the only action FPS that has been brought to VR. To shed light on many of these titles, we have compiled a list for you to enjoy today. So without further ado, here is our list of the 5 Best Games Like Bulletstorm VR.

5. Ghosts of Tabor

Starting off our list, that, as far as gameplay goes, is much more slow and deliberate than Bulletstorm VR. Now, that isn't to say that VR firefights cannot get intense in Ghosts of Tabo. They absolutely can. However, the game focuses heavily on loot mechanics, as well as survival mechanics, to ramp up the tension. And it does a fantastic job of this. It accomplishes this in a number of ways. The amount of weapon customization available in Ghosts of Tabor is really impressive and Escape From Tarkov-esque. So if you enjoy those aspects of these games, then this is a great choice.

Additionally, while it is currently in Early Access, the twenty-dollar USD price tag makes it relatively cheap to get into. The game also has a crafting system that allows you to craft items you need. This is great, as many of the high-tension raids that players will go on will definitely require some finesse and precision, as well as plenty of planning. Finally, Ghosts of Tabor has a wonderful environmental and audio design, which really immerses the player. To close, Ghosts of Tabor is one of the best games like Bulletstorm VR, currently on the market.

4. Superhot VR

Switching things up quite a bit and taking a turn for the quick and frenetic, we have Superhot VR. Now, Superhot managed to make way with its unique gameplay gimmick, and the VR offering is no different. The only difference is players can find themselves more in the action than ever before. This really gives the player an immersive feeling that will keep players trying to run through the game's levels again and again. This is great for the game's overall replayability and speaks to the strength of the core gameplay loop.

For players who are unaware, in Superhot VR, players can only notice time moving when they move. This gives the game a unique feel from the outset. This allows the game to be a great FPS title and an interesting puzzler in a way. There are many ways to lay the game, such as attempting to speedrun it, as well as comparing your scores with other players. All in all, Superhot VR is one of the best games like Bulletstorm VR, which is still going strong to this day.

3. Pistol Whip VR

Next up, we have a title that is somewhat similar to Superhot VR and Bulletstorm VR in a way. However, Pistol Whip manages to blend the more fast-paced action of games like Bulletstorm VR with a wonderful rhythm mechanic. This gives the game a certain flow and rhyme or reason to the gameplay that feels very Superhot-esque in the way it is presented. Much like those titles, the game also features leaderboards for players to test their times against one another. This is great for the game's overall longevity and will keep players attention for quite some time.

The visual style of Pistol Whip is sleek and stylish, with many bright neon fluorescent lights making up its world. And as far as content goes, Pistol Whip has a significant amount of it. This includes things such as thirty different core levels to tackle. So if you are looking for a VR experience with a flavor for cyberpunk or fluorescent aesthetic, then Pistol Whip VR should be right up your alley. To close, Pistol Whip, much like other games like Bulletstorm VR, is an absolute blast.

2. Pavlov VR

Next on our list of the best games like Bulletstorm VR, we have a title that is much more in the tactical vein of FPS games. Pavlov VR is a title in which players will have to plan out their actions and take their time, even in the game's tense PvP battles. However, this shouldn't intimidate newer players, as the game offers a training area in which players can practice infiltrating buildings, weapon handling, and much more. The amount of adaptability this game has is impressive.

Players are able to play in offline multiplayer with bots or create their own custom game modes, as well as run their own dedicated servers. This essentially means that players are able to tailor their experience to what they want. This is great for player agency and choice and only serves to highlight how easy it is to get into Pavlov VR. The game also features proximity VOIP, which allows players to communicate realistically within the game world. In conclusion, Pavlov VR allows players to tailor their tactical FPS experience, and that is simply fantastic.

1. Onward

Wrapping up our list of the best games like Bulletstorm VR, we have Onward. Now if you are in the VRFPS space, you have no doubt heard of this game. This game takes a much more realistic approach to its combat scenarios as well as its gameplay elements. This is great and allows the game to sit in a niche of tactical shooters. However, this game, for as tactical as it is, is also pretty accessible.

This makes the game strike a certain balance between being easy to get into and rewarding to play. In addition, the sound effects for the game are all fantastic, and the weapons are punchy and responsive, making this one of the premier tactical shooters available on VR. So if that sounds like it would be up your alley, then definitely check out the game. In conclusion, Onward is a VR tactical shooter that must be experienced, both for its quality and its attention to detail. It is for these reasons and more that we consider it one of the best VRFPS titles on offer today.

Just when I thought I had finally managed to nudge Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” to the Upside-Down of my subconscious mind, the Meta Quest Showcase only went and happened — once again adding another layer to the ever-popular world of Stranger Things. Only this time, it’s a VR game, and going by the details left out to dry by Zuckerberg and crew, it’ll be heading to Meta Quest 2 and “all major VR platforms” later this year. Tidy.

Anyway, with the news well and truly out in the open, what more is there to tell ahead of the game’s launch? Well, if you’re even the slightest bit interested in Netflix’s powerhouse poster child, then be sure to read on. Stranger Things VR: just what is it, and how will it tie in with the kids over in Hawkins? Let’s talk.

What Is Stranger Things VR?

So, what is this VR adaptation of the beloved Netflix series, and how will it compare to the mobile iteration that rolled out just a couple of years back? Well, to put you in the picture, Stranger Things VR is a (you guessed it) psychological horror virtual reality game set in the Upside-Down — from Vecna’s perspective, of all people. As players, you will be tasked with delving deep inside the minds of the people of Hawkins, and with your power to extract and preserve core memories, plot your revenge against Eleven and those who fall under her wing.

Going by what’s been shown to date, Stranger Things VR will be split between two timelines — the past, and the present. In the former, users will experience the events that took form prior to Henry Creel’s transformation into Vecna and the Hive Mind, whereas the present will accommodate a timeline that lets you plunge into the minds of Hawkins’ most iconic characters. But more on that shortly.

Story

Just to echo, Stranger Things VR will take place across both the Upside-Down, and the town of Hawkins, and will serve as a prequel to the events of Stranger Things 4. As Vecna, or Henry Creel, you will be tasked with constructing the Hive Mind—a collective consciousness dominated by an all-seeing evil. With outlandish powers that let you invade the minds of others and extract their memories and abilities, you will set out and plot your revenge against both Eleven and the unknowing citizens of Hawkins.

In other words: “Experience the world of Stranger Things from the never-before-seen perspective of Vecna as he explores unknown realities, forms the hive mind, and enacts his plan for revenge against Eleven and Hawkins.” Vecna? Upside-Down? Unknown realities? VR? Count us in, Tender Claws.

Gameplay

Judging from the trailer that slipped out earlier this week, the gameplay will include exploring iconic locations from the Stranger Things universe, seeking out additional lore, as well as engaging in fast-paced combat and even the odd boss encounter. All of this will come bundled in an immersive VR experience—one that will no doubt make full use of the Meta Quest 2’s extensive features.

“Players will invade the dreams and memories of fan-favorite characters and harness telekinetic powers to possess minds and battle creatures, as Henry Creel’s transformation into Vecna and his influence on the events of prior seasons is revealed,” the description continues. “Relive memories from Henry’s time at Hawkins Lab with Dr. Brenner as you explore an otherworldly, interconnected hive mind.”

Going by this, we can only begin to imagine that there’ll be a 50/50 divide between playing as Henry Creel in Hawkins Lab, and Vecna in the Upside-Down. So, if you’re after another scoop of lore for your Stranger Things fan fiction, then you’ll no doubt get your money’s worth in the forthcoming VR entry.

Development

So, who do we have to thank for this latest instalment in the Stranger Things nexus? Well, to put it short, it’s Tender Claws who’ll be bringing it to the table, a firm best known for Virtual Virtual Reality among a slew of other VR favourites.

Announced back in November 2022, both Netflix and Tender Claws revealed that the game would be shaping up for a Winter 2023 release across all major VR headsets. This was, thanks to Meta Quest’s recent showcase, then brought forward to Fall 2023. Unfortunately, neither faction has let slip a guaranteed release date. It won’t be long, though.

Trailer

YouTube Video

Tender Claws just so happened to drop a rather insightful trailer of Stranger Things VR earlier this week. And not just an old run-of-the-mill trailer, but a surprisingly in-depth gameplay trailer, no less. You can catch a glimpse of what’s to come in the Meta Quest chapter in the video embedded above.

Release Date, Platforms & Trailer

Stranger Things VR will be shaping up for a Fall 2023 release on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and “all major VR headsets” — presumably Pico, PlayStation VR2, and SteamVR. Does this mean the likes of PlayStation VR and other ex-gen headsets are out of the question? Honestly, it’s hard to say at this point, though nothing currently suggests it’ll be available on anything other than the latest models, either.

As it stands, Stranger Things VR will launch with only the one copy in mind: the Standard Edition, which will be available for $30 across all major retail outlets. You can get your hands on a copy over on the Meta Quest Store here.

Has the Upside-Down piqued your interest? If so, then be sure to check in with the team’s official social feed for all the additional updates here. We’ll be sure to let you know just as soon as Tender Claws hammer down a formal release date right here on gaming.net. Until then, be sure to add it to your wishlist here.

So, what’s your take? Will you be picking up a copy of Stranger Things VR when it drops later this Fall? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.

Of all the previews that were shown at this month's PlayStation Showcase, it was actually Vertigo Games' Arizona Sunshine 2 that wound up stealing the show. Weirdly enough, though, it wasn't due to its flashy visuals or its ability to flex the VR2 functionalities  — but its hilarious, albeit highly unorthodox zombified cinematics and borderline barbaric gameplay, that won fans over. Just as well, because Vertigo Games hasn't exactly left a great deal of time between its announcement and its release window, which is currently slated for a late 2023 debut.

“Welcome back to sun-kissed, zombified Arizona,” the blurb reads in part. “Take on the form of our dark-humored protagonist once more and set out on the cinematic next chapter of our VR journey in search of answers.” How mysterious.

So, tone and overall hype set aside, what else did the devs share on the matter during this week's event? Well, here's everything we managed to scoop up on the subject—brains and bullets excused. Arizona Sunshine 2: what on earth is it, and when can we expect to get our hands on it? Let's talk zombies. Sorry, “Freds.”

What Is Arizona Sunshine 2?

To put it short, Arizona Sunshine 2 is a first-person action-adventure game by Vertigo Games. In this mind-boggling sequel to 2019's original, players will once again take on the role of the outspoken protagonist as he endures the end of the world beneath the golden rays of the Arizonan sunshine. Lost, isolated, and without a sense of purpose, the gun-toting killer and his loveable companion Buddy will venture out to find a new means to an end as the world yields to chaos and gore.

In Vertigo Games' own words: “Arizona Sunshine II is the sequel to the best-selling virtual reality zombie-shooter Arizona Sunshine. It is the next-gen sequel to the fan-favorite virtual reality apocalypse, and packs even more gore-geous zombie action!”

Story

Surprise surprise, the world is still on the verge of collapse under the rule of the Freds — and Arizona certainly isn't the safe haven it used to be. Fortunately for you, the gun-toting hero under your thumb isn't one for wallowing in pessimism. On the contrary, the humor-loving zombie hunter is known for heroism — bravery, even. “And what’s better than braving the end of the world?” the description adds. “Surviving it with your new best friend — Buddy. (We thought it was an original name, too.) Not only is Buddy your four-legged companion through thick and thin, he’s also the goodest boy and will help take down those pesky Freds for you. In a desolate world, suddenly you’re not so alone anymore.”

Gameplay

It's fair to say that, as far as gameplay goes, Arizona Sunshine 2 won't be all that different from its prequel. What's new here, however, is its “brand-new, next-gen mutilation and gore system”—a feature that will make use of those trusty DualSense controls and, with them, offer you full creative control when it comes to slaying Freds out on the battlefield. So, expect plenty of melee-based combat and gore-riddled executions.

“In a post-apocalyptic world where every bullet counts, experience the thrill of realistic combat as you wield all-new and fan-favorite weapons–from shotguns to machetes and flamethrowers,” the description adds. “An all-new melee combat system will push you to the very brink of your limits as you slaughter Freds (the zombies, for those of you who’d like to know) like never before in full, immersive next-gen glory.”

Development

Given the critical acclaim that the first chapter received back in 2019, it comes as no major surprise to see Vertigo Games using it as a launch platform to usher in a sequel. And while we can't say for certain how long the team has been tying up these ends from beneath the cover of darkness, it seems highly likely that, with its launch date slated for later this year, Arizona Sunshine 2 has been in the works for several years now.

Announced during this month's PlayStation Showcase—an event that hosts countless indie and triple-A studios' latest projects, Arizona Sunshine 2 launched in tandem with a rather gory gameplay trailer to boot. Going by that, we can expect to see the game arrive on PlayStation VR2 and PC VR at some stage in “late 2023.”

Trailer

YouTube Video

Courtesy of this week's PlayStation Showcase, Arizona Sunshine 2 does in fact have a surprisingly in-depth trailer to outline all those gory details. You can see it for yourself in the video embedded above.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Arizona Sunshine 2 will be heading to PlayStation VR2 and PC VR at some point later this year. It hasn't been said yet which of the available VR headsets will be eligible, though if the original game is anything to go by, then we can expect the sequel to roll out on Valve Index and Meta Quest, too. That said, you can probably chalk out the possibility of it reaching PlayStation VR, what with Sony now transferring its attention over to the VR2.

Right now, we can't say whether or not Arizona Sunshine 2 will release with any physical editions. If it does, then Vertigo Games will no doubt make some sort of announcement later this year. If we're lucky, then a few pre-order bonuses will come knocking in the months leading up to its eventual release.

Vertigo Games' upcoming venture caught your eye? If so, then be sure to check in with the studio's official social feed for all the latest updates here. We'll be sure to let you know just as soon as the devs lift the veil on the final release date. Until then, be sure to add it to your wishlist over on Steam here.

So, what's your take? Will you be picking up a copy of Arizona Sunshine 2 when it releases later this year? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.

If a movie adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's wasn't enough to cool your jets, then perhaps another entry in the PlayStation VR saga will tide you over? If that's more up to your speed, then you'll be pleased to know that Steel Wool Studios is working on Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2, the sequel to 2019's well-received VR original. And yes, it'll be heading to VR2 later this year. That is, providing its studio hands don't roll into any speed bumps along the way, of course.

“Back in 2019, we were so excited to share the first VR Five Nights at Freddy’s game, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted,” said Ray McCaffrey, executive producer at Steel Wool Studios. “Since then, we’ve been fortunate to release the VR DLC Help Wanted: Curse of Dreadbear, the first fully explorable Five Nights at Freddy’s title Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach and we are currently adding another chapter to Security Breach’s story in the upcoming free DLC, Security Breach: Ruin! With all this time and experience under our belt we felt it was time to return to VR and create a brand-new game with even more of what fans know, love, and fear.”

So, when can we expect to see the inside of Fazbear's pizzeria joint, and what sorts of unruly shenanigans are we likely to witness unravel come dusk? Well, here's everything we've been able to gather on the latest venture since first hearing of it earlier this week. Help Wanted 2: what, when, and most importantly, why?

What Is Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2?

To cut to the chase, Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 is an upcoming survival-horror game for PlayStation VR2. Like its first chapter, the latest entry will revolve around various mini-games, all of which will pit players against the famous disheveled and morally conflicted animatronics of Freddy Fazbear's pizzeria. Unlike its predecessor, however, the latest iteration in the series will feature all-new “games, locations, story, and animatronics.” So, expect a lot more than a simple rehash of 2019's material, basically.

Help Wanted 2 will feel familiar to players who experienced the first game, but with all new games, locations, story, and animatronics,” McCaffrey added. “Do your best to complete your work as fast and as diligently as you can, but be careful. One wrong move at this job can lead to… unexpected consequences.” Cue the jump scares!

Story

Guess what? Freddy Fazbear's chain of established pizzerias are hiring again — and you're the only applicant on the bill. No stress, as you'll be accompanied by the restaurant's regulars, as well as its cast of beloved animatronics. That being said, as this is indeed a FNaF creation, you're bound to run into one or two teething problems as you set up shop in your new line of employment. It'll be up to you, being the only human in sight, to unmask the truth behind Fazbear and Friends.

Sadly, we don't quite know what sorts of adventures are waiting to be had in Help Wanted 2. However, if it's to follow in the same footsteps as its 2019 original, then we can definitely expect to see a slew of mini-games that both pay tribute to the original saga on PC, as well as flesh out the overall lore behind the Five Nights at Freddy's universe.

Gameplay

Thanks to the tweaked DualSense capabilities of the VR2, players will have the opportunity to delve into one of the most life-like FNaF experiences ever conceived for the world of VR. And while it's gameplay will retain the traditional elements (as in, flicking switches, checking cameras, and monitoring the crags and crevices of various locations), it will, in essence, utilize the DualSense features to let players feel “every step, rumble, and shake.”

“Utilizing the enhanced power and fidelity of PS VR2, this title will be the most immersive, heart-racing Five Nights at Freddy’s title ever,” the elevator pitch boasts. “PS VR2 sense controller and headset haptics let players feel every step, rumble, and shake as you race to complete your tasks on time. VR brings players even closer to the animatronics than ever before, just not too close, they have been known to bite.”

Development

Admittedly, we never thought Steel Wool Studios would hash out another entry to the Help Wanted timeline. Truth is, we never thought Scott Cawthon would branch out to anything more than the upcoming movie adaptation that's slated to hit theatres later this year. But, as it turned out, the sequel managed to sneak its way into this week's PlayStation Showcase event, which then went on to reveal that the game would be shaping up for a “late 2023” release on PlayStation VR2.

Going by the release window, one can only begin to imagine that Steel Wool Studios has been keeping this one quiet for a quite some time now. If all goes according to plan, then we should see the next leg of the journey arrive by year's end. October, if we're lucky?

Trailer

YouTube Video

Yes, there is a trailer, thanks to Steel Wool Studios bringing it to the PlayStation Showcase that aired earlier this week. Granted, it doesn't give a whole lot away as far as gameplay goes, but it does manage to do one thing: build an immense amount of hype on the fans' behalves. Need we say more? You can catch the announcement trailer for yourself in the video embedded above.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 will be dropping on PlayStation VR2 at some point later this year. Does this mean we can chalk out the possibility of it reaching any other VR platform? Not yet, no. After all, with the first game reaching both Meta Quest and PC VR, there's a good chance the sequel will do the same. That said, we can't say the original PlayStation VR will get it, what with Sony now shifting all its focus over to the VR2.

Whatever the case may be, you can always check in with Steel Wool Studios for more updates by following their official social feed here. If anything even remotely noteworthy pops up ahead of its 2023 launch, we'll be sure to let you know all the details right here on gaming.net.

So, what's your take? Will you be picking up a copy of Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 when it releases later this year? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.
