Best FPS Games on Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass is the preferred subscription service for Xbox Series X|S gamers. For a relatively low monthly price, you gain access to a whole catalog of games, both old and new, that are readily available to download. However, with so many games to pick from, it might be difficult to narrow down your options. That's why we're here to tell you which Xbox Game Pass games are worth your time this August. More specifically, what are the best FPS games on Xbox Game Pass this month? Well, we've got them right below, so read on to find out what they are.

5. Doom (Series)

DOOM – Launch Trailer

DOOM, the renowned high-octane shooter, is the first title on this list of the best FPS games on Xbox Game Pass. In fact, we're taking the entire series because all of the franchise's titles are available on Game Pass. If you're unfamiliar with the Doom series, it's an epic single-player campaign featuring some of the most exciting FPS gameplay to date. The basic plot of every Doom game is that hell's legions are attempting to attack Earth. Your goal as the “Doom Guy” is to prevent these demons from other dimensions from annihilating humanity.

All in all, the entire Doom series is a fast-paced, action-packed, and extremely brutal game that's endlessly entertaining. You can literally rip monsters' jaws apart as a way to take them down. Nonetheless, every Doom game is an endlessly entertaining adrenaline rush, and frankly why we recommend playing them all. If you're not sure where to begin, we recommend starting with DOOM from 2016 and then moving on to DOOM Eternal. If you're still hungry for more after that, the classics are all there for you to enjoy.

4. Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem | Reveal Trailer | Out January 25

The Serious Sam series is an FPS franchise that dates back to the early 2000s. For a long time, the Serious Sam series provided some of the most exciting single-player FPS action available, until games like Call of Duty and Battlefield took over. However, Serious Sam's vision for their FPS game was unaltered. As Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem is a new standalone expansion of the classic FPS series that was launched in 2020.

In this new standalone chapter, we find our macho protagonist Sam navigating a vast Russian landscape on a quest to catch the treacherous traitor General Brand. Of course, he's up to no good, and it's up to us to put a stop to it. However, getting to him will need a lot of bullets, quick thought, and perilous courage. Overall, Serious Sam's FPS action is similar to that of Dooms. Regardless, it still makes for one of the best FPS games on Xbox Game Pass this August.

3. Deathloop

DEATHLOOP – Official Xbox Launch Trailer | Play It Now With Game Pass

Deathloop is a new story-driven shooter from Arkane Studios, the creators of Dishonoured. In this action, FPS game, two rival assassins are locked in a mysterious time loop on the island of Black Reef, forced to repeat the same day forever. There is, however, one way out: by assassinating the eight vital targets before the day ends. As a result, if you want to escape this mind-boggle and back to your usual life, you'll need to get your hands dirty.

At first, you will ultimately fail when you attempt to take out the eight targets and break the loop. Thankfully, the day resets, which gives you a chance to change up your approach. In fact, the more failed attempts the better. As you will learn what strategies work and what strategies don't. Furthermore, it gives you the chance to try new paths, gather new intel, and unlock new abilities. It's a constantly wavering narrative that doubles as one of the best FPS games on Xbox Game Pass.

2. Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart - Launch Trailer

Atomic Heart is a game from developers Mundfish that released this year. While the story may not have lived up to everyone's expectations, it does scratch that itch for exciting FPS, which is why it's included in this list of the best FPS games on Xbox Game Pass. Atomic Hearts narrative is set in a utopia where humans and servant robots live in harmony with each other. However, the unstoppable force that is technology results in these robots evolving into mutant creatures and superpowered machines that inevitably rise up against their creators. Or, is there another force at play?

In any case, it is your responsibility to confront them and restore society to peace and order. You are the only person who can put an end to this lunacy by employing the combat abilities of your experimental Power Glove and the assistance of some over-the-top futuristic weaponry. Adapt your fighting style to combat these machines and engage in explosive combat in Atomic Heart.

1. Sea of Thieves

Official Sea of Thieves Gameplay Launch Trailer

We know this list of the best FPS games on Xbox Game Pass has a lot of single-player adventures. However, that's because a lot of the multiplayer FPS games on Game Pass require EA Pass, which not all of us get with our console subscription. Sea of Thieves is an open-world exploration game in which you can play single or as a group of pirates on your very own pirate ship, sailing the seas in search of riches and mystery. You will encounter everything from the Kraken to other pirates prepared to wreck your ship and steal your gold.
