New Dead by Daylight Game Announced

Published

Supermassive Games, a team best known for its anthology of choice-based horror games, is working on a new addition to the Dead by Daylight IP.

Announced earlier this week, Supermassive Games, a team celebrated for cult classics including Until Dawn and The Quarry, has spun a new type of narrative-driven web. Unlike its other IPs, however, the next venture will be based around the Dead by Daylight universe — but “away from the fog”, and with a new cast of characters to boot.

“We've been working hard to blunt the tension, agency and branching storytelling of a supermassive game together with Dead by Daylight‘s mythology to create an intense narrative experience filled with powerful life or death choices,” said executive producer Traci Tufte. “Our game will be set outside the Entity's realm and feature the story of a new cast of characters who players will follow for an unprecedented experience beyond the fog.”

But What Lies Ahead, Really?

True to the Supermassive formula, the so-called Dead by Daylight: What Lies Ahead will adopt a plethora of “life or death choices”, and will accomodate a rich and immersive single-player experience. As for what choices players will have to make as this fresh band of heroes is still unclear. Whatever the case, though, this is incredibly exciting news for fans of the franchise.

We can't say for certain when this next leg of the Dead by Daylight saga will come out, but if we're lucky, then we should catch a further glimpse of it before Q3 2023. With a little luck, it'll find a home on consoles and PC before year's end.
