5 Best Games Like Creed: Rise to Glory

There's no doubt about it — Creed: Rise to Glory is hands down one of the most immersive VR boxing titles on the market. And it's one of the best fitness games money can buy, too, as it boasts extensive and insightful training sessions, as well as a full-length campaign and all the PvP modes to boot.

Of course, there's a lot more to the boxing scene than what meets the eye. And, contrary to popular belief, Creed: Rise to Glory isn't the only prestigious VR title of its kind. Matter of fact, both consoles and PC have a multitude of fantastic lookalike boxing simulators, and they're all equally, if not more engrossing than Rise to Glory, all things considered. But what are they, and which of them should you be keeping an eye out for the next time you're browsing the market? Well, here's what we'd recommend in 2023.

5. Undisputed

Granted, there are a lot of ambitious boxing games on consoles and PC, and perhaps even more that dare to match the same attitude and raw entertainment value as Creed. But alas, Undisputed sets the new benchmark as one of best up-and-coming boxing games on the board, period. Why? Well, for starters, it boasts one of the most authentic fighting experiences in the realm of combat sports, with “revolutionary footwork mechanics” and a “Loose Movement” modifier that lets you glide around the ring with ease. And that's only scratching the surface.

Of course, being in early access, there are still one or two pockets that remain to be fleshed out. All in all, though, Undisputed provides one of the best and perhaps most life-like boxing experiences on the ringside monopoly. Does it stack up as high as Creed: Rise to Glory? That's debatable, though evidently the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree with this one.

4. Victory Road

Victory Road is a boxing simulator that draws its attention away from the gloves, and more towards the chalkboard, allowing you to play the coach in a rags-to-riches journey—a venture where you dictate the life of a boxing prodigy. As such, you will be responsible for carving your up-and-coming athlete, planning their day-to-day activities and transporting them to the apex of their boxing careers—a world that conjures up sold out exhibitions and infinite revenue for your club.

Let it be said that Victory Road, being another title that's in its early access phase, there are still a few odd components that need the occasional tweak. But for what it's worth, the quirky management simulator is still one of the most enjoyable of its kind, and it provides a surprising amount of in-depth features, given the fact that it's a small-scale pocket indie.

3. The Thrill of the Fight

Much like Creed: Rise to Glory, The Thrill of the Fight comprises a “down-to-earth” authentic boxing experience for VR. Also like the former, the Sealost Interactive-led title fires on all cylinders when it comes to extracting intricate details as seen in real-life boxing, right down to the sweat-inducing training sessions. And what's more, it compresses all of this into a room-scale experience, giving you a proper insight into boxing from the comfort of your own home.

Of course, it goes without saying that, being a boxing game with a high level of intensity, you're bound to get a solid cardio workout here. It's a two-for-one, then, as it brings not only an insanely addictive up close and personal boxing experience to light, but enough of a workout to get your blood pumping and the sweat pouring by the bucket. Worth the investment? Absolutely.

2. Knockout League

Knockout League is an arcade-style boxing entry best known for its Overwatch-inspired art style and ludicrously dimwitted opponents. From its hook-handed pirates to its bowler hat-sporting octopi—this unorthodox VR chapter takes all of the same core features that you'd find in any larger than life combat simulator, and adds a unique blend of cartoonized mayhem and elasticated mechanics to the mix.

Gimmicks aside, Knockout League actually has a pretty sturdy palette of characters to battle, modes to engage in and, with a little luck, top-tier events that nudge you towards the apex of the virtual boxing scene. Plus, it provides a solid workout, too, which makes sense, given the fact that a great deal of your time is spent deflecting eight tentacles and a mustache. And that's barely scratching the surface of its cardio-inducing casket of curiosities, believe it or not.

1. Fight Night Round 4

It's been over a decade since Fight Night Round 4—one of EA's best selling combat sports games of all time—graced our systems, and yet even to this day it remains the undisputed titleholder in boxing video games. And while its graphics haven't aged all that well in comparison to a lot of its peers, mechanically, it holds up remarkably well, and stands the test of time as one of the best console games money can buy.

Fight Night Round 4 is billed as the ultimate all-in-one boxing experience—a full-fat suite that boasts a full-fledged career mode, an online multiplayer counterpart, and a slew of fully customizable exhibitions to boot. So, while you will need to unearth an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 to relive it in its entirety, it is worth noting that, with the highest Metacritic score ever recorded in the boxing subdomain, it's certainly worth the investment.
