Best Father’s Day Gaming Gifts

Father’s Day is a fantastic occasion to not only celebrate the dads of the world, but their lifelong hobbies and interests, too. And what better way to celebrate their pastimes than to gift them a keepsake that holds actual value and sentimental significance? Needless to say that there are countless items that check all the appropriate boxes when it comes to gaming gifts and the likes. Question is, which of them are worth buying in 2023?

6. Custom Skins & Cases

Although having a custom build controller tailored for you isn’t a revolutionary concept by any means, it is becoming increasingly popular with part-time gamers. And thanks to the likes of Xbox Design Lab, users can pretty much have their ultimate dream pad built from scratch, right down to the laser-infused Gamertag. Yes, it’s a little pricey — but it’s arguably one of the best and most popular items you can currently buy that isn’t a whole new console or component.

Outside of Xbox Design Lab, there are several other options available, which include silicone skins, plastic decal panels, and custom prints, grips, and joysticks. The fact that you can go the extra mile and pool each piece together and build something that’s unique to either you or the recipient is, in all honesty, the reason why so many frequent gamers are ditching the standard pad in favour of something a little more, well, personal.

5. Gaming Subscriptions

Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus are quickly becoming two of the most sought-after subscription-based services on the market. Rightfully so, as they offer hundreds of downloadable and streamable games, all of which can be played either at home or on the move. It’s because of this that consoles like the Xbox Series S or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition sales are astronomically high. It makes sense, then, that anyone on the hunt for an ideal gaming gift would purchase an annual membership to either of the two.

Of course, there are additional services to consider: Netflix Games, Ubisoft+, EA Play, and Nintendo Switch Online, to name but a few. You can get your hands on one of these prepaid subscriptions at most retail outlets, or failing that, then via any of the respective marketplace storefronts. Depending on the tier you select, prices typically begin at $10, give or take.

4. Wireless Headsets

Hands down one of the most important pieces of kit in any gamer’s arsenal, a wireless headset can elevate your overall gaming experience to new and exciting heights. That is, of course, providing you’re willing to spend that little bit extra for the added comfort and sound quality. Whatever your preference in brand, though, it’s safe to say that most, if not all reputable companies have their admirable share of quality gaming headsets to represent their banners.

Anyway, while a lot of firms offer a superior selection of headsets to help boost your overall game, it’s fair to say that Razer has one of the most aurally impressive catalogs on the current market. For for updates on that front, you can see a list of our handpicked gaming headsets of 2023 right here.

3. LED Strips, Lamps & Sound Bars

Gaming PCs of 2022

It’s a little known fact that the vast majority of gamers enjoy having a selection of LED gadgets and gizmos to spruce up their dens. Just as well, because the amount of neon items one can purchase on the average storefront is beyond belief. Matter of fact, you can get your hands on something as simple as a desktop lamp by tapping in a quick Google search. And not just desktop keepsakes, but sound reactive light bars, neon strips, and even custom made signs displaying your Gamertag or PSN handle. So, spoilt for choice, really.

So, with an abundance of LED gear up for grabs, what should you actually go out and purchase as part of your next Father’s Day haul? Well, if we had to opt for any one particular gift in 2023, we’d suggest getting your hands on a pair of RGB sound reactive towers, which can be used with either a console or PC. Failing that, then a classic LED strip to border the back of a monitor or TV. Either of the two works an absolute charm, to be fair.

2. Kickstarter Pledge

Kickstarter has quickly become one of the best launch platforms for budding video game developers to elevate their projects to a whole new degree. It’s because of this, and how its creators rely on public funding to build their games, that patrons are often made eligible for countless post-launch perks, in-game rewards, and even credits. An example here would be American McGee’s Alice: Asylum—a campaign that offered its premium members gifts including plush toys, screensavers, and other exclusive physical merchandise.

Whatever the case, the likes of Kickstarter and Patreon both have an enormous selection of active campaigns to support. If that’s the sort of thing you’re after, and are all for pushing new ideas to the cusp of fulfilment, then there’s no doubt about it — pledging to a video game developer’s vision is one of best and most selfless gifts one can possibly give.

1. Gift Cards

There’s no safer bet than buying something as simple yet as equally effective as a gift card, is there? Thankfully, such cards can be purchased for nearly any storefront, be it the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Steam, or the Nintendo eShop. You can pick up one of several digital and physical cards for a starting price of $10.

Of course, if you’re really wanting to push the boat out, then perhaps opt for a Game Pass Ultimate or PlayStation Plus Premium subscription to layer on top of the standard gift card. It’s a win-win situation, either way.

So, what’s your take? Will you be picking up any of the above gaming gifts this Father’s Day? Let us know your thoughts over on our socials here.
