best meta quest 2 games

Another year has passed in the ever-changing world of VR, and the Meta Quest 2, formerly known as the Oculus Quest 2, remains the go-to standalone VR headset. Its low price in comparison to its competitors is the reason it's amassed a whopping nearly 20 million headsets sold by 2023. Besides its low price and ease of use as a standalone headset, another major reason the Meta Quest 2 is dominating the VR market is its cast of games. There are a ton of titles to immerse yourself in and experience some of the best content VR has to offer. Nonetheless, here are the games that performed best in 2022 for the Meta Quest 2.

5. The Climb 2

If you're looking for one of the most euphoric experiences on the Meta Quest 2, look no further than The Climb 2. Its concept is simple: Climb a range of environments from urban cities and mountainous landscapes. However, there are a couple of caveats. The first is that this is a free climb, which means there are no ropes attached. So, while your life may not actually be in danger, it will certainly feel that way in VR. Secondly, you freely navigate your path to the top but keep in mind, not everything is as sturdy as it appears.

As a result, The Climb 2 is both liberating and nerve-racking at all times. Especially since one small mistake can cause your heart to drop into your stomach and you to fall to your dome. But it's exactly the risk and rush of conquering new heights that makes the game so rewarding. Even more so when you have to navigate your way to the top solely on instinct. Nonetheless, despite the lack of a narrative and only one simple goal of climbing, The Climb 2 has shown how a simple concept can prove to be one of the best Meta Quest games of 2022.

4. I Expect You To Die 2

Not everyone is cut out to be an undercover secret agent. However, with the release of I Expect You To Die 2 and the Meta Quest 2, you can see what it's like to experience a super-spy story.

In this VR experience, you take on the role of Agent! (What did you expect? You're an undercover agent after all). Your mission: Go deep undercover in a diabolical intelligence agency to uncover Zoraxis' plan to conquer the world. However, the odds are stacked in your favor because Zoraxis believes you are dead. So, you must use disguises to take on this top-secret mission which will require nothing less than the most cunning minds and masterful spy skills to complete successfully.

The original game was one of the best on the Oculus Quest, so it's no surprise that this spy story is one of the best games on the Meta Quest 2. The best part is that the third entry is due in 2023, with a brand new spy story for you to unravel the clues and secrets of.

3. Population: One

Battle royales should need no introduction in this day and age of gaming. However, few people have tried the concept in VR. If you're curious to know what that likes, then try the likes of FPS battle royale, Population: One. In this game, 18 players hop into a match, collect weapons, and duke it out for victory. However, there's much more to the game than just laying led into enemies.

The game also features wingsuits, grappling hooks, and the ability to climb buildings. As a result, the maps your playground in Population: One's FPS. The best part of all, the game just went free to play, allowing anyone to get in on the action.

2. Moss (Series)

The Moss series is without a doubt one of the best games on Meta Quest 2. Both installments have an engrossing and immersive narrative, and thus deserve to be included on this list. The plot of the series revolves around a mouse named Quill, who, with much bigger dreams than herself, embarks on an epic adventure with you in the driver's seat. In this single-player action-adventure game, you'll explore the world, solve puzzles, and face off against some unlikely enemies.

We strongly advise playing this game in order, as the sequel is a progression of the first (Both are compatible with the Meta Quest 2). But, we have no doubt that after playing the original, you'll be eager to continue Quill's adventure in Moss: Book II. Which only expands on the tiny mouse's emotional story, thrilling adventures, and perilous battles.

1. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners | Announce Trailer | Oculus Quest Platform

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners has been a highly praised title for the Meta Quest 2. However, that's because it's well-deserving of it, and evidently why it's our top pick for the best games on the Meta Quest 2 in 2022. In this game, you must travel through a walker-infested New Orleans, fighting, sneaking, and scavenging for your survival. That alone makes for an enticing adventure, however, the struggle doesn't stop there.

In New Orleans, there are also other survivors and factions. And it's up to you how you engage with them. As a result, the game is chock-full of consequential decisions that will shape your journey and define who you become at the end of the world. Overall, it's a nonstop twisting and turning story that will undoubtedly leave you satisfied, but possibly with a pinch of regret. But, at the end of the day, you have to do what you must survive.

So, what's your take? Do you agree with our top five? Are there other games you thought were the best for the Meta Quest 2 in 2022? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!
