Red Dead Redemption Remaster

Red Dead Redemption, the beloved Western action game from Rockstar Games, is set to make its debut on new platforms.

The company has officially announced that the 2010 classic and its Undead Nightmare expansion will soon be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

According to information on the Red Dead Redemption website, the digital release will launch on August 17.

“Experience the epic Western adventure Red Dead Redemption and its groundbreaking zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, as both games come to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 for the very first time in a single package,” a statement from Rockstar reads.

The game is already accessible on Xbox platforms, including Xbox Series X/S through backwards compatibility. The Switch and PS4  expansion opens up new avenues for players to immerse in the Old West setting. Notably, the title will also be playable on the PS5. Therefore, even the latest generation of console users can relive the Wild West adventure.

It's important to clarify that this release is not a full-scale remaster or remake. Rather, it is a port with some enhancements.

One of the notable updates is the inclusion of support for additional languages, catering to a more diverse player base. Moreover, PlayStation users can look forward to Trophy support, adding a new layer of achievement-driven gameplay to the experience.

However, it's worth mentioning that this re-release does not include online support, focusing instead on delivering the core single-player experience that made the original game so beloved.

Double Eleven Studios is working on the Red Dead Redemption version for Switch and PS4. The studio has previously worked on titles such as  Fallout 76, Minecraft Dungeons, Crackdown 3, and Limbo

Red Dead Redemption will cost $49.99, and will also include the Undead Nightmare DLC. A physical edition will launch on October 13.
